| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 23, 2004 Sweet, alcoholic, almost barrel-aged-like notes to thie doughy marzipan aroma. Opaque blackish brown with shy brown head that recedes to partial cover. Doughy and very sweet flavour seems to be lacking in balancing roasty bitterness. Somewhat chalky in the mouth but fairly smooth. Funny that this should be brought to a tasting at my house the same week I received it in trade! Thanks goldtwins and muzzlehatch. Bottle enjoyed with DYCSoccer17, MartinT, muzzlehatch, Omhper and Rastacouere. omhper (12283), Stockholm, Sweden

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 23, 2004 Black body, not much head. Dry coffee bean aroma with very dry chocolate and fruity brandy notes. Dry start to th flavor with some sweet fig elements. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 23, 2004 The coloring of the head is a light orange that hangs out at the edges of your glass. As you swirl, it shows legs in sticking to the glass. Body is very black. The aromas are chocolate, raisins, oak and bourbon. I also couldn’t get past a fresh peas smell. just like they had been picked from the garden. While this is not unleasant, it is just strange to find in a beer. The taste is a weird grass and molasses with more of that weird pea character. Thanks MrFacto for sharing this unique creation. jasonp (1513), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA

Great roasty malty aroma. Taste has notes of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt and a touch of smoke. Very full, round and creamy on the palate. Awesome brew. I wish I could have had more of this. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Nov 22, 2004 It’s a tragedy these guys are gone. Black, with a vaguely red head. Good nose, rich, dark, and salty, like sniffing a big bucket of kalamata olives. Roasty flavor, loads of chocolate and caramel, nice sweetness and smokiness at the finish. Good stuff, too bad there won’t be any more. MIBRomeo (1965), Wisconsin, USA

Dark maple, with smallish head. Vanilla and sweet cocoa dominate a doughy, yeasty nose...chocolate cookies with caramel coating, late roasty espresso, thick but not quite sticky mouthfeel. Excellent, rather sweet example of this wonderful style.
