Pleasant esters and fruity malt aroma with berry tones plus elements of tea, light toast, and soft caramel. Flavor is slightly grainy with moderate sweetness and bitterness. Some fruitiness lends a refreshing quality. A decent, English-style pale ale. OldRaspy (292), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA

Aroma was of light caramel malts and large quantity of hops. Flavor was mild and somewhat hoppy. eaglefan538 (2363), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

Aorma was slightly hoppy. The flavor was the same with a carmel malt base. Fairly well balanced, but just another amber ale. I won’t return. Stick with Old D’s Oak Barrell Stout. stison42 (318), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | May 24, 2006 Bottle: Pours a sturdy dark golden hue with a solid foam 1" high top. Odd aroma ... almost like toasted marshmellows (this brings me back to Scout camp!). Similarly weird toasty flavor, earthy, grassy, yeasty. I probably shouldn’t have had this right after a Sierra Pale ... quite the turn, but a good solid ale. ozzydog (2), USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 15, 2006 Since I live no mare than 5 miles from the brewery I enjoy this beer whenever I can - usually fresh at the brew pub. I can’t remember ever having anything than a great pint. Not as good from the bottle, but close. Volgon (2489), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

The color is a dark gold and the flavor is exactly what you would expect when you look at it. Not too heavy and definitely not light. Goes very well with a nice grilled steak. I very much enjoy this ale with a meal or afterwards when I just want to kick back. Also, it is readily available in almost every location I have visited in the central/northern VA area which is a nice touch. Kudos to the Dominion Brewing Co.
