Commercial Description:
Dominion Ale is brewed in an English style with American Two-Row Pale, Caramel, and Black malts. We use Perle, Willamette, and Mount Hood hops from the Pacific Northwest and English Kent Golding Hops. We ferment our ale with a traditional American yeast in the German Kolsch style - warm, fast fermentation followed by a slow maturation. Dominion Ale is malty with an assertive hop character dominated by the Kent Golding. It is crystal clear amber colored with medium body. Widely available in bottles and on draft, often as a house brand name.

I had this one on tap at the Harrisonburg beer and wine festival. Good beer, especially when held against their lager offering. It had some nice depth and some great hops. I felt like this one was a great beer to have with dinner or with an afternoon snack. Very refreshing.

Dark amber appearance. Malty aroma. Malty flavor. Definitly loiters on the back of my throat. Not very bitter and very drinkable. I drank this beer and the dominion lager after completing the Shenendoah Mountain 100 - 100 Mile Mountain Bike Race in Harrisonburg, VA and it definitly hit the spot after cycling for 12 hours (honest). Thanks dominion for sponsoring the race and hookin us up with the beers. I am drinking this beer today out of a bottle, though.

The Lure:
A veil of butter shades the earthy hops and orange-y eyes. A slightly metallic look is able to stare through.

The Festivities:
Diacetyl is thankfully submerged under the earthy hops and caramel, as well as beneath my tolerance threshold. Over here, they would call it a "Rousse", and it would be marketed by average micros to the nearly adventurous masses.

Transcendence:
Yet another university party.

Strong, buttery, oily, diacetyl with some notes of cheese in the aroma. Deep golden-amber with a light cover of white head. Buttery flavour meshes with floral, perfumey, earthy hops and some caramel and toffee notes. Medium body with fair carbonation. Bottled on 2-Dec-04. Trade - Feb. 2005 - Thanks, hopscotch! Sampled with MartinT, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere.

Very light amber, clear. Small diminishing head. Surprisingly buttery aroma, floral and pear reminiscent, but above all oily and vegetal (almost corny). The understated fruits and very sparing hops don’t contribute much bitterness and the overall light-medium body with higher than average carbonation both betray the lack of richness… Sub-par for Dominion. Thanks Hopscotch!

Light orange amber color. Medium sized slightly foamy head. Hints of caramel and sulfer in the mostly malty aroma. Acrid floral undertones from the aroma carry through to the nose. Mild malt flavors with a lagery crispness accentuated by spicy kent golding notes. Dry finish with a return of sulfer hints.
