Red, caramel, creamy whilte head, lots of lacing. Nose of grassy, pear, apple and dark cinnamony hops. The flavor is malty, nice rich body and a complex malt base. Finishes creamy and bitter. Nice beer. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 2, 2006 On tap at the brewpub, RBSG 2006. Coppery amber with an off white head. Hoppy nose for a red, caramel, mild malt. The body is the star here - creamy, smooth satin. Sweeter than expected finish, but with a decent hop bite. Some spiciness detectable in the very end. Nice! Alcohol is not detectable - at 9%! CaptainCougar (5488), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 11, 2007 On tap at the brewpub on 7/16/06: Pours a clear copper amber with orange hues and a nicely-lacing frothy, cream-colored head. Aroma has a fresh light piny citrus hop character with a touch of toasty caramel malts. Body starts fairly full, but not very sweet with a light hoppy bitterness and a touch of citrus, but not much else. Needs more malty sweetness and bigger hop notes to really be considered a double red. bu11zeye (5475), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 16, 2006 (Nitro) Pours a clear deep amber body with medium-sized beige head. Aroma of caramel, grassiness, and flora. Nice hops and malt balance with a creamy mouthfeel. aracauna (2389), Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 16, 2006 Dark copper, heavy on the red. The head is longlasting and creamy. The aroma is a lot smaller than I think it really should be, possibly a fault of the nitro. The flavor is really mellow. Decent caramel maltiness. There’s absolutely no harshness or sign of it’s size. This thing would be seriously dangerous. hopscotch (5483), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 2, 2006 Nitro... Clear, deep copper ale with a mid-sized, creamy, manilla head. Excellent retention, of course. The aroma is yeasty, musty and malty, but muted. Leans on the bitter side of balance, flavorwise. No trace of alcohol, but plenty of hearty hops and solid caramel malt. Medium-bodied and ultra-creamy with almost no carbonation. Dry finish. I scratch my head and wonder how much better this beer would have been if served from a beer engine or even a regular tap. The nitro definitely muffled every characteristic of this beer... with mouthfeel being the lone exception. There’s unrealized potential here! wilkie (1191), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA

Caramel in flavor, with mildly hopped slightly bitter finish. Sugar noted at end, alcohol after a few sips, noticed a slight touch of chocolate.
