Commercial Description:
Dominion Lager is brewed using four types of malted barley: Two-Row Pale Brewer’s malt, Munich, Carapils, and Caramel. The bittering hops are Perle and Hallertau from the Yakima Valley in Washington State. The aromatic hops are domestic Tettnang, German Hallertau Hersbrucker, and Czech Saaz. This combination of malt and hops, along with a classic lager yeast from Germany, and the long, low-temperature lagering process results in a mild, smooth, flavorful, complex beer that is a delight to drink.

Had this when vacationing in Shenandoah Nat’l Park. Probably the best lager I’ve ever encountered. Deep golden coloring, little head, pungent aroma and extremely smooth and refreshing. Unlike similar lagers, Dominion did not cloud my head nor give me a stinging headache in the middle of the night. I actually purchased 11 cases and brought them back to the city. Everyone who has had one agrees that it is superior to anything locally available. With little luck I will convince the local distributor to order this gem.

The aroma registers earthy hops and a sourdough yeastiness. It pours somewhat frothy, but the head is short-lived. The flavor nicely balances German-derived hops with a doughy breadiness. The lager yeast is very nice, leaving only slight sulfur notes and that unique sourdough character. The Breiss-derived malt huskiness detracts from an otherwise clean palate. Overall a very decent Dortmunder.

Golden yellow with a bone white head. Slighly yeasty aroma, with some caramel sweetness. Some cookie along with spicy, earthy hops in the flavor.

May 2005 - Poured golden color with small head, little lacing. Not much going on for aroma. This is a nice, smooth lager. It lacks a little bit of punch. Has a sweet taste (which I haven’t experienced in many other lagers) and even has a hint of caramel. Not a lot of hop presence. Not bitter at all.

Bottle. Thin, but pleasant aroma of light malty sweetness and hops. Yellowish/golden color with a small white head. Looks slightly darker than a standard macro lager. The taste, however, is much better. A good balance of sweet and bitter, with more distictive hops flavor than you’d normally see in a lager. Not overwhelming, but an extremely drinkable brew that offers enough flavor to keep you interested. This is a good, if somewhat simpler, lager that makes a great session beer.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear golden color with an orange tinge; white head with good lacing. Some white grape juice and overripe fruits in the aroma, with a touch of citrus. Medium mouthfeel: slightly watery, but with a pleasant show of grapes and wet malts and minimal citrus bitterness; very drinkable and balanced. Quick finish, showing grapes and grain.

Light Copper Coloring White Skin. Light Malty Aroma. Smooth Carbonation and Mouthfeel. Musty Malt and Hops Equal a Rough ’Lager’ But Much More Explanatory That Its Listed Here as an Ale. Overall Some Nice Flavor
