Commercial Description:
We have just solved a brewery mystery (and it is delicious). We wondered what would happen if we put 2004 Dominion Millennium in oak barrels that had bourbon in them for five years. Three months later we had Oak Barrel Millennium. Something special, we think. Ruby-red color with a wide range of complex flavors. Malt and sherry predominate.

Not sure where exactly I received this beer, but I believe it was from either Immy or Jasonmech77. Either way. Big thanks for this excellent offering. The appearance of this beer is almost rust water in color, cloudy with some off-white head action. The aroma is quite the stunner. Clear notes of vanilla, oak, and caramel lead the way with some subtle honey and light fruit notes underneath it giving it enough complexity to get high marks. Mouthfeel was syrupy, full with a smoothness that was quite enjoyable. The flavor of this beer was pretty much on par with the aroma notes with a heavy dose of sweetness (brown sugar) coming on strong. An absolutely incredibly tasty beer that I enjoyed sip after sip. If it were only available in California.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of CaptainCougar. Pours a hazy amber golden with a small, white head. Distinct aroma of oak and bourbon. Medium body - surprisingly considering its strength - extremely dry with a distinctly alcoholic whisky note. Really, really dry as a bone - I would’ve liked a little more sweetness here. 230807

12 oz bottle, 7/27/07: Orangey amber, lightly hazed, w/ a cream colored head. Alcohol is a bit perfumey and solventy at first, followed by vanilla, oak woody and bourbon... All present and accounted! Lighty citrusy hops also a bit soapy w/ hints of caramel, and surprisingly, some green apple and pear notes as it warms. Also surprisingly, it starts out fairly grapefruit citrusy. Some alcohol w/ light bourbon, vanilla, and cookie dough malt... Sort of like a bourbon ball. Very little caramel character in the flavor. Well balanced overall flavorwise. Drier finish which is sort of like hopped up bourbon, lingering aftertaste is herbal hops and solventy alcohol. Hot alcohol leads to a drying mouthfeel, medium full body, lower medium CO2. I think that if I belched around someone that was smoking, I might explode, or at least have a mouth that resembled cherries jublilee! Too much alcohol present for my enjoyment of this one at the moment. Could probably stand to be aged just a bit more IMHO.

Had this 12oz’er sittin around a bit, bottling date 111706, my bottle says 11.4% abv. Nice amber orange brew, almost light tan head, clear, slightly hazy. Interesting sweet syrupy melon aroma. Kind of a candy apple at the fair aroma. Bitter, heavy bit of a burn in the foreground, and a caramel raison flavor, with bitter hops and vanilla finish.

First off, thanks a lot to MrBendo for this wonderful bonus. OK OK I can get behind this one. Sweet and fruity. Apple and pear. Big hoppy finish, but somehow a fantastically smooth, marriage of hops and malt so they don’t stand out. Mouthfeel is chewy but not thick. Oak is a sweet vanilla accompaniment. Not sure if there had even been bourbon in the barrel, but it doesn’t show up. OK, there was bourbon in the barrel, but it doesn’t show up. Certainly a lot of strawberry. Light carbonation balances it all out. This is complex, but most importantly really really tasty. Fantastic beer.

Courtesy of boboski. Poured a beatiful copper color with no head. I am drawn into the aroma, trying to sum up what I am smelling, and then I hear the words from bobo, pound cake. Damn, it smells like pound cake. I love pound cake. ALOT. Flavor is integegrated, with the oak, alcohol and malt performing perfectly. An apparent dried fruit fruit, think plums or cherries, on the finish. Marvelous.
