Pours out a pale orange color which does not look too much different from Bells Wheat Love. Nice little white colored / tan head on it. Smell is fruity, full of vanilla, and oak barrel smells. Not overpowering. Taste is sweet and smooth and pretty drinkable for a 11% barley wine. I thought this was going to be much darker than it was, but then I realized after pouring that the bottle was actually darker. Interesting. The barrel taste isnt overdone with this beer, as it is with alot of beers which are "barrel aged". Pretty good stuff, if it was a little thicker and a little darker, it would get much higher marks. Still, after drinking this one it makes me wish I had another. Thanks Craig. obguthr (1045), Poquoson, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 1/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 19, 2007 Fabulous fruit cocktail aroma of pineapple, grapefruit, and cranberry. Cloudy ochre color, no head. Dry initial taste that becomes grapefruit and piny. Subdued but decent hop finish. Alcohol content is masterfully masked, making this a dangerous brew. Not dark or heavy. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 17, 2007 Pours a slightly hazy copper amber with mostly no head. Bubbles hug the edge of the glass. The smell is fairly mild actually, some oak, malts, light caramel, andmaybe a little butterscotch. The taste has a profound alcohol presence, alot of sharp malt flavor, some caramel, and the oak was noticeably present as well. A little bit of dark fruits, more on the sweet side, arrive in the finish. Pretty nice beer. padrefan98 (788), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA

Aromas were what I had expected with a suprising note of sourness. The sourness came off in the flavor as an oaky wooden flavor. More dark fruits and a definite vanilla presence. Pretty tasty. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 7, 2007 (Bottle, thanks hopscotch!) Pours hazy reddish amber. Fruits and bourbon oak in aroma with notes of canned pineapple, coco nut, vanilla, orange and some other more subtle tropical fruits. Malt brings caramel. Some alcohol warmth. Also hints of English fruit cake, raspberries and some raisins. The nose is rather sweet and heavy. Boozy and bourbon-ish flavour with tones of vanilla, coco nut, pineapple and some other fruits. Light bitter and quite tart with notes of wood and unripe berries. Buttery and round mouthfeel with a medium to full body. Butter and some tart tones linger in the finish. Nice and pretty unique. dkoonce (884), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA

Fruity, woody, vanilla aroma, perhaps a bit of orange - That’s it, it smells like an Orange Julius. Heavy and smooth, with a rich malt flavor. Vanilla is very strong as well. Some caramel in there. Finishes clean. The alcohol is well concealed.
