| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 4, 2007 Poured a clear reddish brown with a weird head that kind of reminded me of an undercarbonated beer. Aroma was of oak, maybe light bourbon, caramel sweetness, and some appleness. I dont know what sherry really smells like but maybe that is what I noticed. This was actually pretty smooth for being over 11%. Flavor was a little bitter, slight alcohol, malty caramel, and light oak. This was a pretty different oaked barleywine from my previous experiences. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 3, 2007 Dark copper with vanishing head. Aroma is vanilla, bourbon, and oak. Flavor is remarkably balanced and smooth. I think vanilla dominates. subtle bourbon and oak flavors, and a little bit of piney hops. Can’t detect any alcohol. Excellent barleywine. Upon finishing, this is really really good. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jan 30, 2007 Bottle from Hopscotch! Very nice oak scent with a light bourbon aroma. Translucent orange/brown in color with a decent off-white head. Medium to full palate. Warm oak flavors and a nice light sweetness. Not overpowering like many BA beers--this one is subtle and enjoyable. alexanderj (2269), Chino Hills, California, USA

Flavor was malty, some fruit, caramel, vanilla. Oak finish was really good. Good balance of flavor. Oak really mellowed the flavor, fairly easy to drink. lonelybeergeek (31), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 28, 2007 From Croslings birthday stash. The site says 10.4, but the label on this bottle says 11.4% abv. I open this beer, pour, and I can smell it from two feet away. Oak, syrup, and cherries in the nose. Pours orange with a quickly diminishing white head. really just looks like tea after awhile; no bubbles at all. Rather harsh and alcoholic on the tongue, but tasty. I would like to get more of this. This beer will age like crazy. I should have saved it for another year or two. Sweet. Thanks for the bottle, Nick. spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 18, 2007 12oz bottle dated 11/20/06 stating 11.4%alv. thanks to kmweaver for this bottle. pours dense amber with small white head that didn’t last long. has a typical sweet english bw nose with very subtle bourbon notes. tastes has very little bourbon notes, sweet caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, dull cherries and plums. mouthfeel is a tad thin but otherwise good. finish is good with just a tinge of alcohol some candied sweet sweetness. not too syrupy like a lot of other english bw but i prefer the american bw. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 17, 2007 Huge thanks to Hopscotch for sending my way. Pours bold clear bronze with a small soapy tan head. The aroma is very full with vanilla, oak and thick caramel malt. The body is fairly thick and cloying with a small amount of fizzy carbonation on the finish. The taste starts with thick caramel / toffee malt, oak, alcohol and vanilla. The finish has a bit more of an alcohol kick, some cotton candy sweetness and after that departs there is a lingering oaky caramel malt that pleasantly stays around. A very well done barley wine I’m glad I was able to try.
