Commercial Description:
We have just solved a brewery mystery (and it is delicious). We wondered what would happen if we put 2004 Dominion Millennium in oak barrels that had bourbon in them for five years. Three months later we had Oak Barrel Millennium. Something special, we think. Ruby-red color with a wide range of complex flavors. Malt and sherry predominate.

12 oz bottle, dated November 17th, 2006. Pours a beautiful golden-amber color; head quickly disappears to reveal a cognac-like liquid underneath. Generous aroma: plenty of piney and citrus hops, brown sugar. Remarkably well-balanced and drinkable for a newly released bottle: gentle oak toastiness, vanilla, chewy bourbon, slightly buttery (diacetyl, in a good way); plenty of maple sugar and piney hops in the mouthfeel. So drinkable it’s appalling; the hops don’t predominate, and the barrel-aging is well-incorporated into the malt backbone. Finishes smooth: warm vanilla oakiness and sweet bourbon. I can’t think of a barleywine I’ve enjoyed more than this one.

Bottled. Orange coloured. Unclear. Small beige head. Herbal and flowery aroma with some sweet barral notes. Ripe fruits and raisins detectable. Flavour as well is herbal and flowery but a bit dominated by the barral wood thing. Maybe a bit too much. Liqourice and caramel notable. Is quite sherry like and quite pleasant and smooth. Full bodied. Alcohol is notable as warmth on palate and lips and directly in the flavours. Berries and sweetness dominates the end with a light touch of bitterness. Thanks to chris for sending this in a trade. Good one. I probably would be up there ringing hadn’t it been for the IMO too domimant barralwood thing.

A hazy dark amber beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet with lots of overripe fruits, as well as light notes of alcohol, caramel, and lemon. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of alcohol and overripe fruits, leading to an end with notes of citrus combined with a bitternes, and a alcohol burn lingering on the tongue.

Bottled. Dark amber coloured. Bourbon and vanilla in the aroma. Very sweet fruity (pineapple) bourbon flavour with notes of oak, toffee and alcohol. Some hops in the finish. Medium to full bodied. Too sweet as many bourbon barrel aged barley wines.

Bottled - LCRBM2 - A copper coloured beer. The aroma is very full with loads of malt, hops and alcohol. A warming inviting nose. The taste is also warming with good alcohol. Very malty and very pleasant alcohol levels. Enjoyed this one.

LCRBM2: floral hoparoma overshadowed by sugar. Hoppy flavor with blackcurrant, but again the sugar wins. Hurted my teeth. Still very tasty.

[2nd Low Countries RateBeer meeting] Aroma is sweetish-fruity, sherry, floral. Quite complex. Nice. Hazy, amber-orange coloured with a thin head. Taste is sweet, malty and fruity. Some bitterness in the finish. Quite good.

Bottled, LCRBM. Heavy aroma, floral and perfume. Hazy, brown/orange color, beige head, fair lace. Sweet, very bitter, very fruity, raisin and also floral. Lots of different flavors but well balanced. Alcohol present but not annoying.
