Commercial Description:
Dominion Millennium is a very strong ale brewed in the English Barley Wine style. Often called the "sherry of the beer world", barley wine is best sipped at warmer temperatures, and should be enjoyed in moderation, as it contains twice the alcohol of regular beers.

Bottle. Tasted relatively young, about four months after bottling. Sweetish malty aroma. Interesting choice of hops, here (Mount Hood, Perle, Liberty, Goldings), lightly floral with a faint bg funk, but nothing really establishes itself. Amber body, darker than clear, with a fluffy soapy off-white / tanned head. Hefty, alcohol soaked body, slightly tongue numbing with a boozy finish. Caramel and wet cardboard dominate the taste, a vague hint of just-ripened fruit in jam form, but nothing to earn points. Medium body, soft with only a flash of carbonation. Hate to crush this one, but this is a mess.

Bottle. Nice smell of hops, sugar, and alcohol. Pours dark amber with a cream colored head that quickly disappears. Solid, tasty beer with less overpowering sugars than you’ll find in a lot of barleywines. I tasted roasted caramel, muted fruits and spices, then a surprising hoppy finish that barleywines often lack. Frightening drinkability and smooth mouthfeel for a brew with this much alchohol, and the aftertaste leans more towards warm hops than booze, so it’d be easy to drink too many of these. I’m an Old Dominion fan and this is one of their best efforts.

Aroma is quite subdued, with caramael, citrus, and strawberry notes. Ochre colored, cloudy, with a thin yellow head. Sweet, yeasty, and herbal. Spicy pepper and thyme finish.

Bottle @ Akkurat, Stockholm. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Malty vinous alcoholic aroma with some hints of caramel. Sweet malty slightly alcoholic caramel flavor with some hoppy hints. Sweet warming malty alcoholic finish with some hints of dark fruit in the aftertaste.

12 oz bottle w/bottling date 04/08/06. Pours a clear reddish amber color w/no head. Nice sweet aroma. Wasn’t thrilled w/this one; kind of bland, one dementional flavor. Some malt, a little oak, a little molasis type sweetness, but nothing that really jumped out & grabbed me. Bought this sixer when it came out & I’ve had a few of them but never when I was in the best condition. Never rated it as I wasn’t thrilled w/them & wanted to give it a fair shot; figured it was me. Traded a few & was down to my last one so I sat down to drink one & give it a fair rating. A lot of people rave @ it, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea. Long, bland, dry finish; alcohol was well hidden. Maybe needed to age longer & develop more flavor??

Pours a hazy caramel brown with a small white head. The smell really was all malt. Mild caramel, but the malt really stood out. The taste was slightly bitter, malty as expected, and pretty full flavored. Get some alcohol in the finish with a nice little bitter aftertaste that left some sweet caramel and brown sugar on the back of the tongue. Very nice.

Can’t remember who sent me this. Thanks to whoever did. Bottled 040306. Hazy amber/orange with a thin layer of off white film. Aroma of rich caramel/toffee, sweet mixed fruits, light dose of vanilla and generic spice. Flavor is similar, not very complex but tasty. Some bitter, resinous hops and moderate alcohol in the finish. Medium/full body, balanced carbonation. Goes down a little too easy for 11.4%. Solid.

Sweet fruits, figs, pears plums, sweet malts and finally alcohol in the aroma, smooth charming sweet fruit and malt flavors, much lighter body then I expected, a variety of alcohol drenched sugary fruits, much like some whoop a tooees,I ’ve had, as it warms the alcohol starts dominating the light body, tastey, easy drinking potent brew
