Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 24, 2006 Updated: Apr 26, 2006Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours orange-brown with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts, alcohol, and citrus. Flavor is caramele, sweet, alcohol, with a bitter finish that i didn’t enjoy. jde123 (715), Washington, Washington DC, USA Apr 9, 2006 A fairly decent barley wine, that would cellar very nicely if I ever gave it the chance. Somewhat sweet, perhaps its all the honey they use, nice balance between hops and malts. Very smooth flavor and palate, goes down nicely, stays down nicely truly a warmer for sitting at an outdoor bar on chilily spring evenings. 00cobraR (1096), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Apr 9, 2006 Pours out a light amber color with a small head. Flavor is very nice. Not to malty and not to hoppy. It is very well balanced. Aroma is nice and fruity. Very pleasant. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA Apr 8, 2006 Red colored pour, thin white head. Taste is sweet and refreshing. Fairly easy to drink, not nearly as hoppy as I have pictured barley wines to be. A decent beer, worth trying any time you may see it. Very nice Numenor (869), Richmond, Virginia, USA Apr 7, 2006 Ruby brown body with a light tan head. Great aroma, malts, yeast, some light hops. Awesome taste, hops with some light fruits. Sweet caramel flavor with some molassas and some light fruit. TheEpeeist (1429), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 3, 2006 12 oz bottle. 2006. Clear dark orange tea with thin head. Very light butterscotch and honey. There is some nice sweetness in the middle but quickly bitters out. Might be very good in a few years. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Mar 16, 2006 12 oz. bottle thanks to Slob. Special thanks too for the aged bottle. This was a 2003. Excellent aromas. Honey, molassas, caramel, dried fruit, a touch of chocolate. Flavors were more molassas and caramel on the front. Some slightly tartness in the middle. Kinda different there. The finish was alcohol warming and then a lingering of hops and some kind of spice. Very good
