Commercial Description:
Dominion Millennium is a very strong ale brewed in the English Barley Wine style. Often called the "sherry of the beer world", barley wine is best sipped at warmer temperatures, and should be enjoyed in moderation, as it contains twice the alcohol of regular beers.

Bottled Feb 2009. Pours a rich copper color with no head. Aroma is alcohol and honey. Taste is caramel, honey, alcohol, and a nice citrus hop finish. Heavy mouth feel with moderate carbonation. Definitely a sipper considering the body, alcohol, and smack-you-in-the-face flavor profile. Very enjoyable though.

Decent barley wine that’s got its fair share of sweetness and bitterness. For me there seems to be an odd third party at work, like the alcohol in this is particularly astringent, almost distracting. I couldn’t really detect the honey which I was dissappointed about. This is a nice beer, but I had been looking forward to this one for a while and maybe I built it up too much. A nice and warm beer, it’s powerful stuff.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had an amber-copper color with a smaller, foamy white head that was short-lived. A pleasant pine and citrus hops aroma with some fruity notes of raisin and cherry to complement. The taste was briefly sweet and fruity before giving way to a heavy sour and bitter mixture of dense fruit and grain flavors. It had a heavy, highly carbonated body that was definitely best for sipping; a very filling mouthfeel with a detectable presence of alcohol.

12oz, bottling date 040306. Thanks to moejuck for the bottle. Clear orange amber with a 1/2 finger light beige head, fading to a thin film and ring after a few minutes. Aroma is fairly oxidized and sweet with caramel malts, honey, and a tinge of brown sugar. There is also a little vanilla. The flavor adds a bit of plum and raisin notes, and doesn’t taste quite as oxidized as the aroma led on, but that’s not to say it isn’t pretty oxidized. Sweet finish with a little bit of alcohol presence, very low bitterness. Low carbonation with a full body. An OK beer.

Bottle. Amber beer with a light tan head. Rich malt, honey, and nut aroma with toffee and dried fruit. Rich malt flavor with honey and light dried fruit and a bit of summer fruit. Alcohol noticeable. Medium-plus bodied. Malt and light nutty malts linger with light toffee, light fruitiness, and light honey. Nice sipping beer.

Very good, just prepared to be silently hammered! Didn’t even know the alcohol until after I finished. Some dark fruit and a touch of honey helps you to sip away and not worry about the %. Well balanced and delightful.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear light orange amber with a small light beige head. Aroma of faint candied sugar, fruit, caramel and toasted malt. Taste of candied sugar, papaya, light orange peel, caramel, toasted malt and a touch of alcohol. Better as it warms.

Style; glass: BWSA; snifter 12 fl oz x 10.5% ABV = 126 / 60 = 2.1 beers * 150 C = 315 calories (est.) Purchased at: The Beer Outlet for $1.25 Aroma is honey, hops and an alcohol burn, inviting, strong. Visuals are a deep ruby red, lightly carbonated, very quick tan head goes away completely. Taste is bitter, middling to sweetness, finish is a long bitter burn.Tasty, but unbalanced. Palate is crisp, rough, and sandy. Gritty, drying, and with an alcohol burn throughout. Overall, a very nice brew, definitely a different kind of barleywine, this one much less sweet than others, with a great deal of hop presence. Delicious, well done.
