Commercial Description:
Dominion Millennium is a very strong ale brewed in the English Barley Wine style. Often called the "sherry of the beer world", barley wine is best sipped at warmer temperatures, and should be enjoyed in moderation, as it contains twice the alcohol of regular beers.

12oz bottled on 040407 coutesy of eaglefan538. Alcohol stood out the most with fermented barley field and some caramel. Murky rust body color with thin head. Some hints of fruit and caramel but the alcohol presence was overpowering any real flavor of this one. Little harsh whiskey feel down the hatch and an alcohol warming effect on the body. Whew....

Big sweet malt nose - molasses and vanilla. Rudy amber, low head around the edges. Sugary sweet middle, hints of dark fruits like raisins and figs. Spicy bitter end. Thick body, alcohol warms the throat.

2004-2005 Batch - Brewdate: 11-Feb-05
Clear strong ruby tinted amber/copper coloured body with a medium-sized off-white head. Looks nice - about right for a fresh barley wine. Aroma is VERY nice, malt, caster sugar, sweet caramel, cherries, pit fruits, coriander seed, curacao, peanuts and even some anise. Full-bodied; Strong alcohol kick (tastes like sherry) with a good malt presence, a nice hop bitterness followed with plenty of alcohol & some pit fruits. Aftertaste still burns from the alcohol, yet still shows some spiceyness and some sweet burnt sugar flavours. Overall, a bit too harsh just right now, but given a year or more and this one will mellow out VERY nicely. I sampled this just 18 days after brewing, so give it another few hundred and i’ll try another bottle. I sampled this from a six pack purchased at Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 01-March-2005. Rating for this vintage: 9,4,8,2,15

12 oz bottle, Feb 2004 vintage. Pours a slightly hazy orangish amber colored body under a fizzy, quickly fading, beige head that receded to a thin ring. Nose is toffee and lightly caramel maltiness with a touch of oxidation. Moderate alcohol, some yeast, and brown sugar. Flavor shows some heavier oxidation than the nose. Papery notes overtake the toffee sweetness up front and it finishes with some light soy, yeast, and alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly creamy in texture with nice soft fine carbonation. Finishes with minimal stickiness and some light alcoholic heat. Overall, this was about what I expected from a lightly bottle conditioned 2004 Barley Wine. Still quite drinkable and enjoyable, but I don’t think that this would improve with more aging.

12oz bottle shared at Columbus tasting 2.0 by moejuck! - Thanks! - Pours amber with a short offwhite head and light lacing. Aromas of big grapefruit and pine hops and faint caramel tucked behind that. Flavor is lots of hops up front with grapefruit and pine blending to orange and to caramel. Good malt backbone.. Sticky palate with good balance and the alcohol is covered well. I liked this one a lot!

Bottling date: 3/05/2002 drank on 2/04/2003. Pours a dark orange color with a nice head. Plum alcohol aroma mixed with British hops. Starts sweet ends very dry and malty. You may need a knife to cut through it. Thanks to whoever traded this to me many months ago!

Pours a pretty clear amber copper color, and is topped by a midsized tan head. The aroma is of rich malt, alcohol, and a hint of hops, the malt definitely dominates though. Wow, this beer is thick and rich. The finish is made up of warming alcohol. This is very malty, with thick chewy notes of caramel, and biscuits.

There is actually quite a bit of hop contribution here as well, it was just hard to pick out because of the dominating maltiness. the hops are herbal, grassy, and piney up front. The finish is moderately bitter with a hint of astringency. Overall this is quite enjoyable, certainly it is quite flavorful and rich, though the hop flavor could be a bit more dynamic.

01 Nov 07, BW Tasting. 12oz bottle, 1998 Vintage Thanks to KP. Hazy reddish-orange. Aroma of sweet citrus, baked pears. Very smooth. This beer smoothed out nicely! Good malt body. Big hop in the finish.
