Commercial Description:
Dominion Millennium is a very strong ale brewed in the English Barley Wine style. Often called the "sherry of the beer world", barley wine is best sipped at warmer temperatures, and should be enjoyed in moderation, as it contains twice the alcohol of regular beers.

At the VA Beer Festival, Norfolk, VA. Clear gold with an off white, yellow tinged head. Candylike nose and flavor, both are sweet orange, caramel, resiny. Citrusy bitter finish. Awesome lace that lasts forever. Sticky palate, very good!

Bottled Feb 19 2004. Thanks Odeed for sharing. Aroma is honeycomb, alcohol, caramel. Body is a deep amber, no head. Standard issue barleywine stuff here, sweet with honey, caramel, and alcohol. Almost slightly watery.

2/18/2005 2005 vintage This is one of the two barley wines that made me first love barley wines. The other being Bigfoot. Each February both of these monsters come out, usually within a week of each other, and there is much rejoicing. Clear dark amber with a lasting off-white frothy head. Glass lace is quite nice. The aroma is sweet caramel, butterscotch, light sherry notes, and big dose of earthy-floral hops. The flavor is sweet but nicely so, butterscotch, sherry, caramel, light alcohol,. Bitter but not over the top bitter. A vast improvement over last year’s batch. Full bodied with an assertive mouthfell courtesy of alcohol and light bit of acidty.

Old crappy rating 8/4/9/4/17 - 4.2I have had many incarnations of this one over the years. Each year it varies slightly but it is always good. When it first comes out it tends to be a little bit harsh but it ages quite nicely. Nice deep red color with a good off-white head that produces good lacing. Very powerful hops (fruity and citrusy) aroma. The alcohol is evident on the palates as are the tons of hops and malt. Very nice thick body and a very pleasant warm afterglow. A very good barley wine.

(1998 vintage tasted 10/03) - Cloudy orange with a smallish off-white head. Malt dominates the aroma, quite caramely. Very nice caramel with hints of wood. Syrupy thick body. Some bitterness but mainly sweet.

Thanks JCB. 2006 bottle. Pours a still murky amber with a whispy tan head. The nose is malty, sweet, shows alcohol, subdued citrusy and grapefruit hops, some caramel. The flavor is malty, shows alcohol, decent hop feel, thin, feels like the middle of it just falls out and the beer simply comes apart. Palate shows a mild bitterness with some warming alcohol. Overall has a thin body.

Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours orange-brown with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts, alcohol, and citrus. Flavor is caramele, sweet, alcohol, with a bitter finish that i didn’t enjoy.

LCRBM 2009. Light brown in the glass, small head. Aroma of chocolate and cinnamon. Starts modest sourish, gets stronger and stronger, very complex, a bit alcoholic, but also very fine spicy, again notes of cinnamon. Well balanced finish. A great beer!

12oz, bottling date 040306. Thanks to moejuck for the bottle. Clear orange amber with a 1/2 finger light beige head, fading to a thin film and ring after a few minutes. Aroma is fairly oxidized and sweet with caramel malts, honey, and a tinge of brown sugar. There is also a little vanilla. The flavor adds a bit of plum and raisin notes, and doesn’t taste quite as oxidized as the aroma led on, but that’s not to say it isn’t pretty oxidized. Sweet finish with a little bit of alcohol presence, very low bitterness. Low carbonation with a full body. An OK beer.
