Gorgeous amber body with thin lacing, almost opaque. The aroma hits you with a powerful nuttiness - definitely not an American hoppywine here. As it warms up, the richness of character emerges - wood, plums for sure, and a slight alcohol burn. It’s that last bit which makes me think that I should have kept this cellared for another 6-12 months, allowing the brew’s balance to emerge. Still, really fine stuff. Wish I had some more. pilsnerrogge (1794), Finspång, Sweden

Very minimal lacing. Aroma is malty and sweet, honey is especially apparent to my beak. Very nice interplay of sweet malts and honey and the bitterness of the hops. Medium bodied. Slightly syrupy and coating. Large alcohol finish. Nice to sip on. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Buttery, bready sweet caramel aroma. Maris Otter and tootsie roll chocolate in the flavor over leafy hops and alcohol. A nicely sweet English-style BW. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 8, 2006 Red colored pour, thin white head. Taste is sweet and refreshing. Fairly easy to drink, not nearly as hoppy as I have pictured barley wines to be. A decent beer, worth trying any time you may see it. Very nice sloth (1684), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA

Malty, fruity nose, hints of vanilla and alcohol as it warms. Med/full body, coating. Good chewy malt flavor, toffeeish, along with a helthy dose of hops and some alcohol too. Finish is medium dry. A well made and highly drinkable barleywine. Odeed (1680), Bakersfield, California, USA
