Commercial Description:
Dominion Millennium is a very strong ale brewed in the English Barley Wine style. Often called the "sherry of the beer world", barley wine is best sipped at warmer temperatures, and should be enjoyed in moderation, as it contains twice the alcohol of regular beers.

Bottle thanks to footbalm. Pours a deep amber with a tiny head. The aroma is nice; hints of sweet candy and perhaps bourbon. The flavor is really great; some fruit, sweet candies, malts, overall really smooth and nice. A really good beer.

2001 Bottle rated head to head with New Oak Aged Millennium Bottle. Dark ruby pour with frothy beige head. Earthy and sweet malt aroma with lots of grain and dark fruit. Taste is sweet and very malty with some very complex flavors. Body was a bit weaker than I had hoped. Nice English style BW that has largely held up. I would say I prefer the Barrel-Aged version, as I think English Barleywines are much improved by the aging process. This one can be a tad bland without the American style hopping of a Hog Heaven, Old Ruffian, or Old Horizontal.

(Bootle, thanks a bunch Beachbum25) Pours orange red, light hazy. Sweet, heavy malty aroma with lots of sugary fudge, caramel and toffee. Undertones of hops, dried fruit, apricots, flower nectar, honey, nuts and maybe a touch of smoke. Medium sweet flavour with caramel, fruits, apricots, and a tiny hint of pine. Medium bitter, light grapefruity finish with a late dryness. Thick, rather smooth but a bit sugary mouthfeel. Medium to full body.

Tasted this at the ratebeer may 04 gathering in the spring, and couldn’t find this on the site, but now I have. Thanks goes out to jgb9348 for this one! Aroma is alcohol first and foremost, with malty caramel hints following. Body is a dark amber colour, head is medium sized, off white. Taste is like a port, or a whiskey.....with malts and an alcohol burn that is slight and enjoyable.

Bottle courtesy of BuckNaked in trade. Pours ruby amber with no head. Decent caramel molasses aroma, with some alcohol coming through. Flavor is the same, but very muted. Maybe a little astringent. Easy drinking BW but just doesn’t score well in individual categories.

Tasted from bottle at RBSG. I’ve been wanting to try this for a long time. I got a 2004 bottle from kp, but I can’t open it until 2025, when my son turns 21. Now I finally get to try it. Sweet, malty. Nice aged characteristics.

06 Bottle shared by emacgee. Thanks Ethan. Pours a hazy amber with a small tan head that fades leaving little lace. Nose is sweet, alcoholic, and lightly hoppy. Flavor is sweet and malty, but as Ethan mentions, its a pretty thin mouthfeel which kind of detracts from the overall enjoyment of this brew. Okay, I enjoyed the oak aged version much more.

12 oz bottle thanks to gputty. Bottled 2/16/06, so rather fresh. Also, 11.4%. Poured into a Tripel Karmeliet large tulip glass. Pours with a rather large head expecially for a BW. Color is dark amber with reddish and orangish hues. Head turns into a strong lacing covering the entire surface. Aroma is strong - not balanced for me though, dominated by a weird mix of hops and malt. Strong piney hop aroma overtakes a rather weak english BW malt of brown sugar and bread. I do not get any of the plum/raison alcohol aroma I am used to. The taste is weak, yes weak for anything this strong. Very watery and thin on flavor. Still get the pine, peppery at the end. Not malt driven (only felt slight brown sugar/butterscotch in the aftetaste). Medium body but kind of light for a BW. Surprisingly no burn on the throat. I should be getting a few more to age from Immy, but it may be in vain.
