Commercial Description:
Dominion Millennium is a very strong ale brewed in the English Barley Wine style. Often called the "sherry of the beer world", barley wine is best sipped at warmer temperatures, and should be enjoyed in moderation, as it contains twice the alcohol of regular beers.

Not very barley wine-ish. Very full bodied. Almost syrupy. Mostly malty but some hops are thrown in there.

An exemplary sample of a barley wine. Gorgeous copper/cider colour with a hint of sediment in bottom. Tempting buttercream head with enticing bubbles. Smells of hops and sweet malt. Makes a glorious impression on the tongue, exerting its big, honey-sweet malt flavour on the taste buds. Sweet-alcohol aftertaste. This is the best beer I've tasted by Dominion. I will go back and buy more to cellar.

Draft at the DC Brewpub. Rather strong yet tastly barleywine.Nice dark color. Aroma provided a good warning of what to expect. Strong flavor and a hop character almost made me wince. Much better by the 3rd sip. Was rather tastly though. I considerred getting a "tower" of this, but wasn’t ready to walk home

This barleywine is a very hoppy example of the style, exhibiting exremely spicy Mt Hood/Hallertauer flavor, much like what I found in Avery Czar. The malt is big as well, sweet, honeyed, showing a bit of fruitiniess, but framed with the hop spice. I'm tempted to say that the hop spice might be a bit much for me. Handsome cherry color.

Pours a clear orange amber color. Big malt aroma with a framework of floral hoppiness. Malty nose, builds into a greater level of sweetness with a tide of alcohol warmth backing it. Sharp and floral hoppiness dominates the finish, with more alcohol presence.

Bottle Jan 03. Pours a medium amber body with a sticky white head. Aroma is dark fruits, musty leather and oranges. Thick mouthfeel. Flavors are oranges, honey, dirt, carmel, and alcohol. Alcohol a little too strong tasting for me. Definately a warmer.

2006 bottle purchased from the brewpub. 11.4% alcohol is quite suprising. A little sweet and cloying. Very malty. Finish is too dry. I think this will improve w/ age.

Pours a dull hazy brown, with a quarter inch of white foam. This reduces to a ring in a few moments. The aroma is of toffee and brown sugar, with a hint of over-ripe pineapple. Lots of toffee, caramel, and honey malt goodness. Very good hop balance with lots of resiny, almost oily, piney hops. A hint of orange peel and spicy hops in the finish, with a strong alcohol presence in the aftertaste. Full bodied, and the malt just clings to the roof of my mouth.
