Commercial Description:
Dominion Millennium is a very strong ale brewed in the English Barley Wine style. Often called the "sherry of the beer world", barley wine is best sipped at warmer temperatures, and should be enjoyed in moderation, as it contains twice the alcohol of regular beers.

THOUGHTS: Nice, but nothing spectacular. It hid the alcohol fairly well. A good barely wine. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, medium to dark reddish amber with a small, off-white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma was moderate to heavy molasses and caramel malt; light to moderate resinous and citrus hops, port wine, maple syrup, alcohol, and that barley wine smell. The initial flavor was rather sweet; while the finish was very sweet, bitter and slightly acidic with a long duration. There was caramel, apple, molasses, that barley wine taste, alcohol, citric hops, maple syrup, resinous hops and slight metallic hops. The medium body was a little syrupy, but fairly oily and a little dry with fizzy carbonation and a slightly metallic, lightly astringent and light to moderately alcoholic finish.

Dark reddish brown colour with a thin head. Little carbonation with lots of thick malty flavour. Finished sour and a bit bitter.

Draft - Very hoppy and alcohol aroma. Nice color to the beer. These beers are a little too strong for my taste, but this one tasted great.

1998 vintage, thanks to DaSilky1 for sharing. Balanced on the sweet side for the style, but the complexity and bitterness held it up nicely. Aging likely refined this creation quite a bit. Great stuff!

12 oz bottle w/bottling date 04/08/06. Pours a clear reddish amber color w/no head. Nice sweet aroma. Wasn’t thrilled w/this one; kind of bland, one dementional flavor. Some malt, a little oak, a little molasis type sweetness, but nothing that really jumped out & grabbed me. Bought this sixer when it came out & I’ve had a few of them but never when I was in the best condition. Never rated it as I wasn’t thrilled w/them & wanted to give it a fair shot; figured it was me. Traded a few & was down to my last one so I sat down to drink one & give it a fair rating. A lot of people rave @ it, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea. Long, bland, dry finish; alcohol was well hidden. Maybe needed to age longer & develop more flavor??

2005 cask on tap at Capital Ale House Virginia Beer Festival. Aromas of carmelized malts with rum soaked fruits and alchohol. Mostly clear golden with minimal white head. Raisins plums and earthy aged hop flavors over sweet carmelized malts with some woodyness. Full body with sweet finish of spicey hop bitterness and alchohol warming. Excellent.

My first vertical (even though it was only a semi-vertical gone bad, it was still cool). ’98- Pours out super cloudy orange, tiny white head with a yellow ring around the glass, syrup like. Taste is enourmous, malts, caramel, fruits dark and light, tiny bits of chocolate even peaking through, very very mellow. just a great overall brew ’02-nowhere near as cloudy, alot louder around the edges, very sharp not very mellow at all, but the taste is still phenom. have an ’03 and ’04, but will wait a little while on those...oak aged yet to come later tonite!! looking foward to it.

Pours a cloudy deep orange color with an off-white head that does not linger. Nice and strong malty aromathat warns what is in store for you when you drink this beer. Thick and malty flavor, with a touch of bitterness and alcohol in the finish. A very nice barley wine.
