Nice and strong malty aromathat warns what is in store for you when you drink this beer. Thick and malty flavor, with a touch of bitterness and alcohol in the finish. A very nice barley wine. hapjydeuce (774), Del Mar, California, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 24, 2008 bottle. this really reminds me of Bells Hopslam.... its heavy on the honey and grapefruit... really kind of a light Barley Wine or hybrid of a IIPA and a Barley WIne. much hoppier than a true English Style Barley Wine... quite excellent. Pours a deep amber / orange with no head. Huge honey and citrus aromas with a touch of hops..... I just wish the aroma was turned up a bit.... medium body with a spicy front and solid finish which lets the alcohol out a bit... slight burn which lets you know the abv. Wonderful citrus and honey notes with a very well balanced bitterness. sticky and sweet.... coldbrewky (739), Saugerties, New York, USA

Hazy brown with a copper hue. Malty, fruity nose, hints of vanilla and alcohol as it warms. Med/full body, coating. Good chewy malt flavor, toffeeish, along with a helthy dose of hops and some alcohol too. Finish is medium dry. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 21, 2006 Bottle. The abv on this one is 11.4%. Bottling date: 04/03/06. A cloudy amber/rust pour with a small tan head. Lots of plums in the aroma along with some vanilla extract, caramel and a little grapefruit. A tad thin for a barley wine along with an above-average level of carbonation. Caramel and spices upfront. Finishes quite dry and biscuity with plenty of bitterness. More of a dark fruit/brown sugar/syrupy barley wine than of the hoppy/citrusy variety. Ample alcohol warmth throughout. The oak barrel version is much better. xproudfoot (729), Paleolithic, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 12, 2005 Bottle at Monks. Smelled like scotch, wine, vanilla, honey, brown sugar, courant and caramel. Taste was very nice but a bit young. An aged version of this would be really good. jde123 (715), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 9, 2006 A fairly decent barley wine, that would cellar very nicely if I ever gave it the chance. Somewhat sweet, perhaps its all the honey they use, nice balance between hops and malts. Very smooth flavor and palate, goes down nicely, stays down nicely truly a warmer for sitting at an outdoor bar on chilily spring evenings.
