Light amber color with a moderate off white head. Aromas of pineapple, sugar cookies, light caramel and floral hops. Quite relaxing aroma. Some light tropical fruit with oranges, peaches and toffee. Smooth and mellow. A light joan of arc brew. Another outstanding selection provided via jeffc666.

Bottle. Poured clear dark amber with a large frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Heavy tart citrus caramel nutty aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture. Medium complex sweet flavor with a medium balanced finish that was long lasting. This is a standout beer.

Bottle @ Akkurat, Stockholm. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Malty vinous alcoholic aroma with some hints of caramel. Sweet malty slightly alcoholic caramel flavor with some hoppy hints. Sweet warming malty alcoholic finish with some hints of dark fruit in the aftertaste.

Found this at State Line in Elkton, MD. Pours a great deep copper shade with medium off-white head. Aroma of big caramel malt, dark fruit, spices, hops. Tastes very fruity, with firm malt, hops, and some cognac at the finish. Smooth, firm mouthfeel, with a great balance and complexity. Definitely in the upper tier of barleywines.

Blind rating, bottle (turned out it was a Feb 2006 bottling). Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, cookie), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin), lightly yeasty (dough), with a light note of alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Pretty simple. Ok.

Bottle from Captain Cougar. Thanks Tom! Rich reddish copper color with little head. Vinous aromas with lots of fruit and florality. Medium plus body with lots of fizz. Heat is noticeable. There are tropical fruit notes. Lots of caramel. Fruity hops pop up towards the finish. Something like a dry, heavy sherry. The fruitiness is a nice touch. Very enjoyable.

Thanks for sharing a bottle, hwy_kevin. The barrel aging dominates this brew. Poured a dark amber witha yellowish head. The aroma is boozy vanilla and oak from the barrel aging. There are also some apples and a little cinnamon, but it is light. The taste is vanilla and oak. There is also a hint of cinnamon and some some chocolate. There is a little spice here. Fairly good, but one dimensional.

Orange, biscuit, floral, leather/suede, perfume - very hoppy nose with strong supporting malt base. Opaque amber-brown with shy but lasting cover of head that laces slightly. Fair, floral hop flavour with sweet balanced malt body. Very pleasant fair to moderate carbonation. Medium-full body. Bottle enjoyed with MartinT, Olivier and Rastacouere. Thanks, hopscotch!
