Great!!!! Thanks Jsquire. I like "Sherry of the Beer world" (recently getting hook on sherry thanks to treks to Ark via the Barrel Factory of Missouri and aged casks and the company of an aged archeologist). The sweet hoopiness balanced with the high alcohol content and estry fruit with honey overtones makes for true nectur.

Pulled it from the fridge and let is sit a bit. Great beer, one of my favs now. Goes down smooth, a little heavy at first, but not filling, Sweet aroma, I didn’t realize the alcohol rating on this one until I started feeling very very relaxed. Didn’t help that this one was consumed post-Alagash Dubbel.

Bottled 16 Feb 2006. Clear golden color with a small off white head. Aroma of orange and malt with a citrus bitter finish.

An exemplary sample of a barley wine. Gorgeous copper/cider colour with a hint of sediment in bottom. Tempting buttercream head with enticing bubbles. Smells of hops and sweet malt. Makes a glorious impression on the tongue, exerting its big, honey-sweet malt flavour on the taste buds. Sweet-alcohol aftertaste. This is the best beer I've tasted by Dominion. I will go back and buy more to cellar.

Equipment: 12 oz bottle served at cellar temperature in a Trois Pistoles goblet. Bottled on date of 2/15/2004. Appearance: Dark, clear amber liquid topped by a relatively large offwhite head. The foam sticks around for a bit before dissipating to a film and a ring. Aroma: Intriguing mix of orange marmalade, caramel malts, and pineapple citrus (think the white gummmi bears) hops. Everything melds together quite nicely. Flavor: An initially sweet whizbang of caramel malts that give way to peppery and bitter hop aftertastes. An amalgam of American and British barleywine styles. Toasted bread character. Palate: Thick and heavy bodied with long lasting aftertastes that make one mellow. Overall: Rock solid and beyond barleywine. Bargain priced to boot. Can’t wait to see what time does to this.

Draft, 02 version: Color is light reddish brown, almost like water mixed with some dyes. Aroma is diverse and intense, from candy sugar, to apple, grape, caramel , raisin, port and hops. Flavor is intense, sweet and delicious , with notes of the above plus more. Awesome beer, and i was lucky enough to get the last glass from the keg.

(Aged 2 years in a bourbon cask): Clear ruby body with no head. Great aroma -- bourbon and wood, port-like. Taste is flat, but soft liquory, bourbon silky, vanilla, some wood and dark fruit. I can"t imagine the regular version is so good, but damn I hope to try it this way again!

Deep amber body and viscous texture. Rich, fresh, candy malt, and dry-hop aroma. Dynamic flavor includes elements of juniper, wood, light smoke, grapefruit, caramel, and firm hop bitterness. Full, chewy body. This is an outstanding barley wine.
