Commercial Description:
Dominion Millennium is a very strong ale brewed in the English Barley Wine style. Often called the "sherry of the beer world", barley wine is best sipped at warmer temperatures, and should be enjoyed in moderation, as it contains twice the alcohol of regular beers.

Dark red. Citrusy, hoppy nose. Alcohol evident, but no where near 11.4%. Well balanced and an interesting hop presence. Overall a good beer that is drinkable.

Reddish brown. Somewhat sweetish, but, thick, powerful and well hopped. A good barley wine.

Amber orange hued. Sweet malty hop/good barleywine aroma. Robust thick body has decent balance and hides its alcohol well. A decent barelywine.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma is medium to heavy sweet. Smells of malts, caramel, and piney hops. Poured copper/dark amber in color with a medium-sized off-white head that lasted throughout. Tiny lacing. Hazy. Sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes very bready with notes of caramel, malts, rye, pine, and hops. Medium to full body. Oily texture. Soft carbonation. Salty, bitter finish.

A really good, strong barley wine. A bit heavy, but that is to be expected. Malt is dominant with a receeeding but distinct hoppiness. Not the biggest big beer out there, but a contender.

Cloudy red-brown with a thin-sparse white head. Sweet light toast, caramel, dark fruit, bready aroma accented by ice tea, vanilla, and earthiness. Sweet, smooth, ice-tea like finish. Getting a bit of aspartame on the finish. Good brew.

This is a very hoppy barleywine, much like SN Bigfoot, or 3F Behemoth, but this lacks the fullness and complexity of those big ones. Don't get me wrong, this is good, but there are so many great barleywines out there, that I wouldn't call this one one to really seek out - slight white lacing, clear copper color - malty aroma with a bit of honey - honey initially in the flavor, then the hops come in - heavy maltiness comes back toward the end, with some fruits (cherries mostly) - the malt/hop balance is pulled off well in this one, much like the beers mentioned above, but this is still one notch under those greats.

Cellar Reduction Night, Oct 20, 2007. Murky orange color with no head. Very strong, sweet malt aroma. The taste is very strong on the sweet malt. A little port/sherry flavors. Some mint.
