sweet caramel aroma that hinted at alcohol.
clean malty taste with a bready flavor. lot of caramel and butterscotch inb this. hides the alcohol well.
biug hops in the finish balance out the malts.

Apr 1, 2007 Hazy/bubbly light amber color with a small beige head. Aroma of fruits, cake/cookies, oak, and a little alcohol. Flavor of oak, some caramel and a little alcohol.

Mar 29, 2009 Bottle from Captain Cougar. Thanks Tom! Rich reddish copper color with little head. Vinous aromas with lots of fruit and florality. Medium plus body with lots of fizz. Heat is noticeable. There are tropical fruit notes. Lots of caramel. Fruity hops pop up towards the finish. Something like a dry, heavy sherry. The fruitiness is a nice touch. Very enjoyable.

Aug 2, 2003 Beautiful nut-brown/amber colour, nice head. A very strong and full-bodied beer with lots of hops, but I think it will improve with age.

May 3, 2009 Bottle. Amber beer with a light tan head. Rich malt, honey, and nut aroma with toffee and dried fruit. Rich malt flavor with honey and light dried fruit and a bit of summer fruit. Alcohol noticeable. Medium-plus bodied. Malt and light nutty malts linger with light toffee, light fruitiness, and light honey. Nice sipping beer.

May 30, 2006 Feb ’04 bottling. Hazy amber-brown body, thin white head. Buttery, bready sweet caramel aroma. Maris Otter and tootsie roll chocolate in the flavor over leafy hops and alcohol. A nicely sweet English-style BW.

Sep 2, 2003 Bottle dated 2-19-98. Cloudy orange with a very old sugar nose. Sherry with dark fruit sweetness of molasses, plums, prunes; like a dark and musty old lady. Forboding in its age but mellow. Now I want to try a fresh sample.

Sep 17, 2004 Good but not very distinguishable from other traditional barleywines (I’m not counting the recent trend to over-hop the hell out of barleywines). Malty, caramel flavors with touches of prunes/raisons. Would like to age a bottle and see how it progresses.
