Commercial Description:
Dominion Millennium is a very strong ale brewed in the English Barley Wine style. Often called the "sherry of the beer world", barley wine is best sipped at warmer temperatures, and should be enjoyed in moderation, as it contains twice the alcohol of regular beers.

Bottle: Hazy medium amber w/ a non existant white head. Lacing is thin and sporadic, probably caused by higher alcohol. Aroma is citrusy and piney hops, solventy alcohol, some caramel and toasty malt. Fruitiness is medium, but mostly due to alcohol and hops, not fermentation IMHO. Alcohol gets stronger as it warms. Well balanced for a big beer, and slightly to bitter. Citrursy hops alcohol, moderate caramel malt in the start, bitterness and citrusy hop in the finish and aftertaste. Some solventy alcohol notes as it warms in the finish. Fuller bodied, medium carbonation, well hidden alcohol compared to flavor and aroma, lightly dry m/f. Not a bad barleywine, but definitely young and of need of some aging. I’d like to have another bottle to try in a couple years.

Sickly sweet hay and old fruit aroma. It's the usual barley wine smell, and it is nice. Tastes of old fruit, yeast, bread, and hay. Somewhat strong on the lips and throat, but not offensive. Buttery finish, with a pleasent, thick mouthfeel. Thanks Kinz.

Bottled on 2/19/98 - A hoppy barleywine with beautiful color. A nice beer to sip that's a bit different than most Barley Wine's.

2006: Pour is slightly hazed amber with a nice dense tan head...smell is sweet sweet molasses, vanilla, caramel...no alcohol...taste is sweet with lots of earth fruits and thick chewy syrupy caramel...mouth feel seems a little thin and slick...good though...

Bottled Feb 19 2004. Thanks Odeed for sharing. Aroma is honeycomb, alcohol, caramel. Body is a deep amber, no head. Standard issue barleywine stuff here, sweet with honey, caramel, and alcohol. Almost slightly watery.

Big sweet malt nose - molasses and vanilla. Rudy amber, low head around the edges. Sugary sweet middle, hints of dark fruits like raisins and figs. Spicy bitter end. Thick body, alcohol warms the throat.

Thanks for sharing a bottle, hwy_kevin. The barrel aging dominates this brew. Poured a dark amber witha yellowish head. The aroma is boozy vanilla and oak from the barrel aging. There are also some apples and a little cinnamon, but it is light. The taste is vanilla and oak. There is also a hint of cinnamon and some some chocolate. There is a little spice here. Fairly good, but one dimensional.

Draft at the DC Brewpub. Rather strong yet tastly barleywine.Nice dark color. Aroma provided a good warning of what to expect. Strong flavor and a hop character almost made me wince. Much better by the 3rd sip. Was rather tastly though. I considerred getting a "tower" of this, but wasn’t ready to walk home
