Commercial Description:
Dominion Millennium is a very strong ale brewed in the English Barley Wine style. Often called the "sherry of the beer world", barley wine is best sipped at warmer temperatures, and should be enjoyed in moderation, as it contains twice the alcohol of regular beers.

Bottle. The abv on this one is 11.4%. Bottling date: 04/03/06. A cloudy amber/rust pour with a small tan head. Lots of plums in the aroma along with some vanilla extract, caramel and a little grapefruit. A tad thin for a barley wine along with an above-average level of carbonation. Caramel and spices upfront. Finishes quite dry and biscuity with plenty of bitterness. More of a dark fruit/brown sugar/syrupy barley wine than of the hoppy/citrusy variety. Ample alcohol warmth throughout. The oak barrel version is much better.

Can’t remember who sent me this. Thanks to whoever did. Bottled 040306. Hazy amber/orange with a thin layer of off white film. Aroma of rich caramel/toffee, sweet mixed fruits, light dose of vanilla and generic spice. Flavor is similar, not very complex but tasty. Some bitter, resinous hops and moderate alcohol in the finish. Medium/full body, balanced carbonation. Goes down a little too easy for 11.4%. Solid.

12 oz bottle via trade with jasonp! (Thanks!) Bottled on Feb 11 2005 so it’s got a little bit of age on it. Lets pop this bad boy open. Pours a ruby/ amber color with a medium sized tan head that lingers. A sweet and malty nose, citrus, some hops, caramel, and a light plum note. Taste is caramel, quite malty, dark, bready, light chocolate note, and a nice mouth filling bitterness. It’s got all the distinctions of a Barley Wine. Palate is bitter, with a oaky not, and rather dry on the backend. Overall, Pretty darn good Barley Wine. I know I am probably supposed to wait a little longer and let it age, but it was a long day and I needed a beer. Cheers!

12oz bottle from Immy and someone else (sorry I forgot). Heavy fruit and caramel on the nose. Very malt forward. Prunes, apricot and a kiss of citrus zest. Lots of rich, warm caramel. Pours a cloudy dark orange/brown with virtually no head and little evidence of carbonation. Toasted caramel and toffee, almond and cashews, alcohol, bready malt and a hint of hops on the tongue. Medium bodied, low carbonation with a kick of alcohol on the finish,

040407 Bottle (hey bockyhorsey!). Pours brown with an orange tint, almost looks a little viscous. Sweet malty aroma, honey, brown sugar, with a bit of spice. Taste is more of that sweetness punctuated with a fairly strong hoppiness. Probably about average for a barleywine, but should be an enjoyable drink.

Bottle from kramer17801. Thanks man!
Pours an attractive amber with a light creamy beige head. Very viscous looking pour. Smell is malty with mostly caramel and a touch of fruitiness. Taste is rich, smooth, creamy sweet leaning maltiness in the form of caramel and lightly honey too. A bit of alcohol coming in through the flavor, but not bad for 11.4%. Pretty mild hop-wise but a bit of bitterness shows, but its definitely a sweeter, but shy of cloying barley wine.

Shared by Milkmandan. Clear light brown pour with no head. Dark fruit and candied sugar on the nose. Nuttiness in flavor along with sweet maltiness and alcohol.
