It's a 'warm cozy' beer and very full. I'm not a big fan of the style, but the beer is well made. jgb9348 (2498), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA

Clear strong ruby tinted amber/copper coloured body with a medium-sized off-white head. Looks nice - about right for a fresh barley wine. Aroma is VERY nice, malt, caster sugar, sweet caramel, cherries, pit fruits, coriander seed, curacao, peanuts and even some anise. Full-bodied; Strong alcohol kick (tastes like sherry) with a good malt presence, a nice hop bitterness followed with plenty of alcohol & some pit fruits. Aftertaste still burns from the alcohol, yet still shows some spiceyness and some sweet burnt sugar flavours. Overall, a bit too harsh just right now, but given a year or more and this one will mellow out VERY nicely. I sampled this just 18 days after brewing, so give it another few hundred and i’ll try another bottle. I sampled this from a six pack purchased at Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 01-March-2005.

Pours a great deep copper shade with medium off-white head. Aroma of big caramel malt, dark fruit, spices, hops. Tastes very fruity, with firm malt, hops, and some cognac at the finish. Smooth, firm mouthfeel, with a great balance and complexity. Definitely in the upper tier of barleywines. OldRaspy (292), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA

Aroma was full of caramel, malts, yeast, honey and spices. Body was medium kinda syurpy. Flavor was just wonderful, lots of caramel and spices with a great alcohol warming finish. Hats off to Dominion for this one. russghost (2), USA does not count | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 24, 2006 I love this beer - brewed just 1 mile from my house. bottles keep for many years KingpinIPA (842), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Tastes very sweet with grapes, grapefruit, caramel, apples, spice, nuts, wood and a nice bitterness. Not too bad of alcohol taste either. This beer definitley warms your body up. One of my favorites to date.
