Eyedrinkale (3115), Beer Town, New York, USA Feb 15, 2004 Updated: Oct 19, 2004 Jan 27, 03 bottling date. Man, this stuff kicks ass. Light brown color with big bubbly head. Killer malty chocolate aroma that is incredable. Strong caramel and oak alcohol taste. There is no way it tastes 11.5% now. Malt, chocolate and toffee are all over the place. This will be an even better beer down the line. Could be the best barley wine I have ever had.
Re-rate on a Feb 19, 2004 bottle. Not the best barleywine I've ever had. Lay it down for real.
Saarlander (1475), Upland, California, USA Nov 20, 2008 Bottle from Immy, thanks. Celebrated the re-launch of rate beer with this one, alcohol was well hidden, easy to drink for a Barley wine. Some fruit and spice, sugar, was expecting abit more flavor to this one, but it was still good, drinkable, ok. cbkschubert (1648), Rattlesnake Country, Arizona, USA Oct 24, 2008 2004 12 oz. bottle via trade with kp - Pours a cloudy deep amber color with a thin off white head that faded pretty quick. No lacing. Light carbonation. Aroma is vinous and full of esters. Flavor is big esters and some malt sweetness. The alcohol is noticeable in this one. A pretty nice BW. Thanks Keith. hapjydeuce (622), Carlsbad, USA Sep 5, 2008 Sampled at RBSG ’08 Grand Tasting at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Another backlogged rating. Poured from bottle. Light amber color with a mild plum flavor with a bit of spice and cherry. Sweet vanilla and dark fruit flavors. Earthy maple and toffee notes shine underneath. Nice body. Really tasty stuff. IrishBoy (2211), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 7, 2008 Bottle at RBSG courtesy AgentSteve; Nose is brown sugar, caramel, and a vanilla note; brown with a few bybbles; flavor is sugary fruits, toffee, and caramel. fidel (314), Livermore, California, USA Aug 6, 2008 Thanks 2 AgentSteve. Orange amber, brown sugar, malty, dark fruits, caramel, alcohol, little spice, slight hop.
