Poured black with virtually no head. THe low carbonation and medium-thick body give it a very creamy mouthfeel. Balanced well towards the sweet side of the flavor spectrum with hints of coffee and chocolate. The vanilla oak character dominates the finish. chriso (4852), London, Greater London, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 23, 2004 This one is aged in proper oak barrels, rather than being impregnated with oak chips as in the normal version. And the influence of the oak is quite apparent in the aroma - vanilla with vinous notes and a good hit of sweet coffee. More vanilla, toffee and some chocolate, in the flavour. A bit reminiscent of fudge. Finishes relatively sweet. Definitely a couple of notches up from the regular version. On tap at the Dominion brewery.

This is a sweet stout with very strong tones of chocolate. Perhaps I was not in a good mood, but this one did not strike me as a tasty stout, and I have tried many. Disappointing. egajdzis (3645), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
