Commercial Description:
Dominion Oak Barrel Stout is rich and smooth, a draught brew so popular at our Brewup that we found a way to bottle it for a wider audience. We combine seven different malts and two hops to create a delicious stout, that we dry-hop with fresh vanilla beans and toasted oak to finish our little treasure. The result is a stout that has the bourbon barrel flavor we all enjoy, and hope you will to.

Note: made with oak chips and vanilla beans, not aged in barrels. Available bottled and draft outside of the brewpub.

KSBF 08- Deep dark wood pour with a tan head. Vanilla, coffee oak roast which carries into the pallet. Sweetness blends with the overall texture but pretty mellow. Great all around.

Aroma and taste are both nice and sweet: chocolate, vanilla, caramel, coffee, and does anyone else taste a hint of raspberry (maybe I’ve had one too many)? Little to no hops, short finsh, could use a bit more body, but its very smooth and drinkable.

Bottle, bottled 6/10/04. Aroma distinctly of raisinets, chocolate and raisins sure, but very specifically raisinets. Flavor continued to be chocolatey with the sweet fruity notes, and a bunch of vanilla, just a touch of oak, overall quite sweet. Quite old obviously, would like a fresher bottle, but certainly an interesting treat it was.

Bottle courtesy of sloth, bottled 6/10/04. Pours black with a minute tan head. Aroma and flavor of Raisinettes and vinegar. I’m not sure if this beer went bad or if it’s supposed to taste like this, but either way, yuck! Hopefully I can get a fresher bottle of this to re-rate.

Pours a dark coffee brown with a caramel head that fades quickly. Sweet coffee and light caramel aroma. Strong coffee blast at first that gets enveloped with woody flavors that linger with an earthy roastiness. Thin body for big tastes.

12 ounce bottle- poured out a deep brown with a red tint. Not much of a head to speak of. The aroma was also a little lacking, very faint smokey nose. Taste was excellent, the vanilla and oak flavors readily discern-able. Palate was just a little thin. All-in-all, an excellent drinkable stout.

12oz bottled on 031008 from TURDFERGUSON, thank you Sam! Black with a small tan head, low retention.Aroma of chocolate-covered coffee beans up front with a little oaky vanilla in the background. Flavor was not near as sweet (did I mention the sweet chocolate in the aroma?) with roasted malts and coffee showing up quite a bit stronger. Oak comes right after the swallow, and into a semi-dry slightly charred roasty finish, bitterness peaking at a 3. Silky mouthfeel with some low prickly carbonation. Burps the sweetness I got from the aroma. Pretty nice beer.

Draft->pint: Pours a thick, dark brown head atop a pitch black body. Aroma is of chocolate, and vanilla together, but as well a creaminess that is undescribable. Flavor’s duration is medium-to-long, finishes like milk, and is pure heaven in a cup to my palate.
