Commercial Description:
Dominion Oak Barrel Stout is rich and smooth, a draught brew so popular at our Brewup that we found a way to bottle it for a wider audience. We combine seven different malts and two hops to create a delicious stout, that we dry-hop with fresh vanilla beans and toasted oak to finish our little treasure. The result is a stout that has the bourbon barrel flavor we all enjoy, and hope you will to.

Note: made with oak chips and vanilla beans, not aged in barrels. Available bottled and draft outside of the brewpub.

Pours dark brown with a tan head with an aroma like toasty grain. The taste is deep with a roasted malt flavor with hints of vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Mouth feel from the bottle is a bit thin. (I had this on draught with nitro and it was creamy and nice). Overall I think it’s a very nice beer

on tap at the Ice House, black pour with a burnt coffee nose, some great bittersweet chocolate flavors with a smooth body that is lean but fulfilling, a good bright finish

Bottle: Black in color with a brown head that faded quickly. The nose is filled with milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla and maple syrup. In the mouth it is quite carbonated which makes it come off feeling light on the palate and the flavors consist mainly of weak coffee along with a citric edge toward the end. Overall, a bit thin and in need of umph in the mouth.

Very good beer, i enjoyed it a lot. A lot of roast and coffee with just the right amount of vanilla to sweeten it out. Finishes with a light bitterness to even it all off. Flavor balanced perfectly, just a little lacking in the "wow" factor.

Pours dark black, with almost no head. Very, very light lacing. Coffee and very dark chocolate and dark roasted malt aroma. Flavor is bitter, ark roasted maltts. Mouthfeel is thinner, like a porter. Finish has a little bite and has a hint of vanilla.

Pint off the brewery tap 05/10/2008 An old favorite of mine. Pours a very dark brown/red with almost no head. Very low carbonation. Roasted and carmel malts dominate aroma with vanilla and oak and a bit of chocolate. Flavor follows the aroma closely with a enough hop bitterness to balance.

Bottle pours black with a thin tan head. Has wonderful aromas of chocolate, vanilla, some oak, and roasted malts. Has a light mouthfeel. Taste does not live up to the wonderful aromas flowing from my glass. It has some vanilla flavors with a roasty finish that seem to undertone the great smells. Overall its a good brew.
