| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Feb 13, 2008 Bottle. Pours translucent blackened brown with a lacy tan head. Sweet aroma of molasses, vanilla, chocolate, softly oaked and has a bit of alcohol. Medium body, a bit creamy with light carbonation. Vanilla dominates the taste, but it has a bit of coffee and chocolate as well. The oak shows up in the finish, which is soft, with the barest traces of bitterness. A little sourness shows up in the finish as it warms. Translation: A bit one-dimensional, and not really balanced. Not a bad beer, but they should consider re-badging it as "Dominion Oaked Vanilla Robust Porter." dmtroyer (410), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 6, 2008 12oz. Dark dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is a bit lacking, mostly alcohol, raisins and maybe the slightest bit of cocoa. Body is similar with some added mocha and roasted malts. Relative complexity in the body probably comes from the number of different malts they used. Body is a bit woody but I wouldn’t necessarily attribute it as bourbon barrel flavor. A bit thin but I find it to be a nice change after mostly imperial stouts this winter. Fairly tasty and fairly drinkable. A good beer. CharlesDarwin (1843), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 5, 2008 12oz Bottle. Aroma is strongly of hazlenut chocolate and root beer float. Really distinct in the latter. Salty and quiet. Mahogany pour with a floundering tan head. Flavor is really thin and washed out. Weak. There’s some plain vanilla ice cream, light pipe tobacco and bits of coffee. Plain and pretty predictable. Dry. Boring. Watery. This is incredibly underwhelming. Clean and filtered. craftbeerdesign (752), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 2, 2008 bottle. pours a dark thin black with little head. very strong aromas of vanilla. medium body on the sides of the palate and thin on the top. sweet oaky presence on the sides and a touch of bitterness on the tip. very slight bourbon finish... not over powering at all. an enjoyable beer, but kinda average. sgallant (21), USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 25, 2008 This is a great change of pace as the oak and vanilla flavors work nicely with a stout. The base stout flavor however could be better. gottalottaibu (243), charlotte, North Carolina, USA
