Commercial Description:
Dominion Oak Barrel Stout is rich and smooth, a draught brew so popular at our Brewup that we found a way to bottle it for a wider audience. We combine seven different malts and two hops to create a delicious stout, that we dry-hop with fresh vanilla beans and toasted oak to finish our little treasure. The result is a stout that has the bourbon barrel flavor we all enjoy, and hope you will to.

Note: made with oak chips and vanilla beans, not aged in barrels. Available bottled and draft outside of the brewpub.

12 oz. bottle from mj. Pour is jet black with a one inch khaki head and a small amount of lacing. Aroma is oak and roasted malt. A bit of hop bitterness poking through in the nose as well. Taste is a nice full bodied stout highlighted with the oak and a smoky / charred element. Finish is clean, bitter hops with some sweetness (I assume this is the vanilla). As the beer warms, the vanilla sweetness becomes more pronounced, though never overpowering. Overall, the oak and vanilla added nice highlights to a nice stout. Thanks Mike!

Draft @ The Big Hunt in DC. Pours black with a 1 finger light brown head. Nose is full of coffee and chocolate and really feels at this point more like a sweet stout. Taste is full of nice sweet chocolate and coffee notes. Overall quite nice.

Pours a dark brown/blackish color with a small tan head. Light aroms of coffee, caramel and vanilla. Taste of oak, roasted malts. Not much more in the flavor. Body seems a little thin as well. Bitter finish. Thanks for the bottle Ubamartian!

Brown black with minimal brown head. Aroma is somewhat roasty with a bit of vanilla. Taste is very ordinary... dry and dominated by vanilla. $6/12oz

Aroma was oak dominated,by far the most prevelant molecules making their way to my detectors,I didn’t get quite as much vanilla as everyone else seemed to be getting,it does show up more in the taste, along with coffee roastedness, finishes abruptly dry. Very interesting with that oak taste and no whiskey. Thanks ubamartian

Bottle: This is the first time I have had this beer since I lived in DC and had this on draft at the brewpub. Pour is black with a thin fading tan head, aroma of coffee and vanilla, taste of coffee and a little vanilla, certainly not even close to as smooth of a beer as the one I tried in DC. That left a lasting impression on me that this bottle has not matched.

12 oz. bottle. Opaque black/brown with a smallish light brown, fading head and some so-so lace. The oak and vanilla are prominent in the aroma, and some coffee/chocolate character also comes through. Body and carbonation are medium, and although smooth, it seems to lack real substance. Balanced flavor with a soft, dry finish. Good enough, but certainly not exceptional.

This is wonderful. I really like it as well. The cask taste with the vanilla is breath taking.
