Commercial Description:
Dominion Oak Barrel Stout is rich and smooth, a draught brew so popular at our Brewup that we found a way to bottle it for a wider audience. We combine seven different malts and two hops to create a delicious stout, that we dry-hop with fresh vanilla beans and toasted oak to finish our little treasure. The result is a stout that has the bourbon barrel flavor we all enjoy, and hope you will to.

Note: made with oak chips and vanilla beans, not aged in barrels. Available bottled and draft outside of the brewpub.

Bottle. Sour malt aroma with a hint of maple syrup. Dark brown color with small head. Creamy sweet chocolate malt flavor with light astringency and high acidity. Nice middle of the road stout.

A full dark stout with aroma of vanilla and coffee. The pour results in a light tan head that is a great lead for the first flavorful taste. A smooth and very satisfying taste with hints of vanilla and chocolate; ending with a very subtle sweet bourbon flavor. An amazing experience. You always remember your first!

Tastes like a more refined and more complex Guiness. The pour was a dark black with thin tan ring. Taste was roasty and vanilla aftertaste that soon turns bitter. While I prefer regular stouts to oak aged, this didn’t overdo it.

Good stout. Dark brown color, light brown, foamy head. Great vanilla smell. Not as creamy as most stouts, but great vanilla and oak flavors make up for the mouth feel. Nice Roasted malts.

12 oz bottle courtesy of kenb. Thanks. Pours black with a thin tan head. Nice chocholate smell, vanilla, coffee, and oak. Very clean, tastes more of coffee and aftertaste of oak.. Very well balanced, easy drinking stout.

Brown 12 oz bottle. Has a typical stout aroma, you know, kinda sweetish. Very nice blackish opaque pour into my clear stein. What can I say, stout is stoutish and so is this. I recently had Bell’s Kalamazoo, this has a little less personality and seems a bit more bitter. I think this is a little less viscous than other stouts, more like the consistence of guinness. Finish is bitter and lingering.

Bottle: pours will suprisingly little head (if any). The taste is dry smooth with mild carbonation. Nothing at all stands out throughout this beer; just a constant, lightly roasted taste with no highly discernable hops. This is a smooth, dry stout that goes down easily without any pronounced flavors, either positive or negative.
