Commercial Description:
Dominion Oak Barrel Stout is rich and smooth, a draught brew so popular at our Brewup that we found a way to bottle it for a wider audience. We combine seven different malts and two hops to create a delicious stout, that we dry-hop with fresh vanilla beans and toasted oak to finish our little treasure. The result is a stout that has the bourbon barrel flavor we all enjoy, and hope you will to.

Note: made with oak chips and vanilla beans, not aged in barrels. Available bottled and draft outside of the brewpub.

Bottle from trade with kmweaver. Thanks Ken! Pours a dark brown color with a medium off white head. Aroma of smoked wood, roasted coffee and vanilla. Taste of roasted malt, light caramel and coffee. Decent meduim bodied brew that finishes with slight hop bitterness.

sampled at colmbus alefest. this beer was really good. it was a deep brown, almost black colorwith a nice toasty aroma, not much oak yet. first sip, then bam, oaky goodness. very strong flavor that is complemented by all of the complexity of the beer. very very good.

Pours coal black, with alomost no head. The aroma is smoke. Must be charred barrels. This stout is very light. Not much in the finish.

On cask at Blue Dog. Pours a dark brown/black with a creamy tan lacing and sustaining head. Aroma of light chocolate, light roast with hints of vanilla and oak. Flavor of chocolate, roast, some vanilla and a light barrel aged characteristic. Smooth and creamy although a bit light on aroma and flavor.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Kmweaver. Midnight black with off-white lacing. Roasted vanilla bean, slight coffee, and sugar dominate the nose. Flavor is equally oaky and vanilla tasting. Not ymy favorite ingredient in a stout, but great balance. Just not my thing.

Poured thick dark brown with a nice looking brown head. The aroma has lots of vanilla, bits of oak, dark roasted malt, traces of coffee and some creaminess. It has a medium body that was lighter than expected. There is quite a bit of carbonation for a stout. The taste starts with some of the roasted malt and vanilla. The finish has some spicy hops and oak. The vanilla and roasted malt are still in there as well as some milkiness. This is a good stout.

Black body with a thick and creamy tan head. Nice lace. Nose is roasted and malty with a touch of vanilla. Flavor is nicely malted with notes of coffee, chocolate, roasted vanilla bean and hops. Bitter hop finish.

Pretty good beer. Tastes and smells like oak and vanilla. Thin. If this had more body it would be great.
