Commercial Description:
Dominion Oak Barrel Stout is rich and smooth, a draught brew so popular at our Brewup that we found a way to bottle it for a wider audience. We combine seven different malts and two hops to create a delicious stout, that we dry-hop with fresh vanilla beans and toasted oak to finish our little treasure. The result is a stout that has the bourbon barrel flavor we all enjoy, and hope you will to.

Note: made with oak chips and vanilla beans, not aged in barrels. Available bottled and draft outside of the brewpub.

Bottle from The Foodery in Philadelphia, I’m loving that store! I expected a heavier head but the thin lacing head worked well. The smell of charred oak wood mixxed with vanilla. Very pleasurable to the nose. The taste is gentle for non stout lovers. A slight kick at 5.2%. All in all I’m really loving this beer. I think I found a new Sunday brew.

Light aroma of oak, vanilla, and roast is evident. The color is a dark brown with a tan head. Flavor has elements of roastedness, vanilla, and an oakishness.

via trade with OhioDad - bottle (100605) Pours a dark brown color with a nice tan head that faded quickly. Has a sweet, roasted, nutty aroma. Kinda nice. Has a caramel, roasty flavor. Can’t detect much oak. It’s smooth but kind of watery. Has a fizzy after taste. Needs a little more body. OK, maybe I’m nit pickin’. Still a very nice beer. Thanks Scott.

Dark brown body, barely a small tannish head...The aroma is one of the strangest I’ve ever encountered in a beer before - it reminds me of the caramel corn candy or a cadbury egg. The flavor, however, is not sweet at all, it is mostly just light and somewhat roasty. The vanilla is there, its true, but its not a very strong quality. A decent stout overall.

A nice mix of chocolate and vanilla beans in the aroma, with some lactose and just a hint of oak - medium bodied with an overly-carbonated mouthfeel - vanilla dominates the flavor, with no really noticable wood presence - roasty, weak coffee kind of flavor - a little thin in the finish.

Bottle, from trade with kramer17801(I think) Good nose, sweet. not getting any oak or bourbon. Chocolate & vanilla, call it coffee. Clean orangy dark brown color, small head that faded quickly to nothing. Sweet bitter flavor. I got a seltzer thing, some caramel roastiness. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel bittersweet dry finish. I had tough time coming up with words on this one. No reason why. Just one of those days.

Great smell, especially the vanilla under the chocolate. Nice dark stout and no burnt aftertaste. Thin body and slightly bitter finish. Could have used some more carbonation for the mouthfeel. I enjoyed this one.

Bottled JAN 07 2005 drank MAY 28 2006. Dark brown black with a thin tan head, chocolate maple aroma with some roasty notes, mild carbonation with a medium body. Vanilla aftertaste rounds out the beer.
