Commercial Description:
Dominion Oak Barrel Stout is rich and smooth, a draught brew so popular at our Brewup that we found a way to bottle it for a wider audience. We combine seven different malts and two hops to create a delicious stout, that we dry-hop with fresh vanilla beans and toasted oak to finish our little treasure. The result is a stout that has the bourbon barrel flavor we all enjoy, and hope you will to.

Note: made with oak chips and vanilla beans, not aged in barrels. Available bottled and draft outside of the brewpub.

It is strange how the pour effects the taste; unless you pour directly to create a huge head, then the consistency becomes oiley. But when pured with a head that mixes from the bottom up --> it creates an enjoyable bourbon taste with a sweet finish....poured right, it is a great creamy treat.

Could my bottle be bad...? Great looking...rich robust thick black syrupy pour with great rocky long lasting tan head. But the flavors seem so off. Yeah there is caramel/chocolate/molasses/burnt brown sugar...but there is also a sickly sweet/sour aftertaste I’ve never had in a stout before. And the pour was so promising...thick and syrupy...but the mouthfeel was thin and watered-down. I’ll rerate this one!

Pours dark brown to black with good tan head. Aroma is malty and roasty with a little bit of wood and smoke. Flavor is much of the same. Not bad, but way to thin for my taste and for the style.

A plain beer. Thin and a little watery. There is malt in the aroma and oak in the flavor, but little else in this dark black beer. Simple.

Black with sticky tan head. I am overwhelmed with chocolate and roast coffee flavours. This continues to the flavours with a vanilla aftertaste. This ends up being a bit thin, and really isn’t able to standout from some of the other big stouts.

tried this again, and i think i had a much better experience. Nice strong vanilla flavor to it. Body was a little too thin, but a nice brew.

Bottle. Thanks to JIMBOWOOD. Pours black with a thick bubbly tan head that fades quickly. Aroma is roasty and sweet, not much else. Flavor is a little oaky, with hints of malt and chocolate. The finish is the best part of this beer. Finishes roasty, nutty, and this is where you get the vanilla. Body is thin to medium. Average.

This beer is interesting. On draft at Summits in Sandy Springs, Ga. I gotta say at first not very impressive, while its in your mouth. but give it 1 second, then it tastes like you just swallowed vanilla milkshake! great vanilla finish and aftertaste.
