Commercial Description:
Dominion Oak Barrel Stout is rich and smooth, a draught brew so popular at our Brewup that we found a way to bottle it for a wider audience. We combine seven different malts and two hops to create a delicious stout, that we dry-hop with fresh vanilla beans and toasted oak to finish our little treasure. The result is a stout that has the bourbon barrel flavor we all enjoy, and hope you will to.

Note: made with oak chips and vanilla beans, not aged in barrels. Available bottled and draft outside of the brewpub.

12oz bottle. Haven’t tried this beer in a few years. Black pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla and coffee. Creamy vanilla flavor giving way to chocolate before the coffee finish. Finishes a bit thin, but no complaints beyond that.

12 oz bottle at brickskeller in DC. Pours a dark brown color typical of a stout, some light passes through. Leaves a little lacing on the glass. Aroma is sweet and malty, with some chocolate and vanilla as advertised. Flavor is also sweet and malty but not too overpowering as the aroma would suggest. A little hint of bitterness is also present. Palate was kind of watery but overall not too shabby. Kind of like a hybrid between a decent sweet stout and dry stout.

Tap at Dulles Airport. Nice deep black pour with thinned tannish head. Toasty chocolate to start but a smokey presence was lurking as well. An earhty vibe works with the sweet bittering backbone to provide nice contrast and solid drinkability.

Bottle courtesy of BeerHawk. Pours black with deep red hues and a one finger tan head that leaves spotty lacing. The nose is vanilla, molasses and ashy cocoa. The taste is vanilla, brunt malt, ashy cocoa and some light bitter hops in the finish. Medium creamy mouthfeel. Decent brew. Thanks Steve!

Rich, smoky aroma of coffee, caramel, and yeast. Black pour with a light lid. A roasty tasting stout that is nicely hopped with subtle touches of wood, grass, and vanilla. Medium body and a mild finish. A very fine brew.

bottled 061808. by dumb luck it happens to be exactly one year. Rich coffee and black bread. Black with a small tan head. Beautifully smooth, soft oak and the vanilla adds where some taste artificial. Nicely done.

Draft at Dullas airport tap. Black-brown, opaque with small but lasting tan head and a little lace. Great smokey aroma. Mild coffee, rich, good, but needed to warm up to bring out the aromas. Wood smoke and cola in the flavors. Finishes watery and never really comes to fruition but is still a good, easygoing brew.

On tap at Taco Mac during epic free shirt quest. Pours almost black with a small tan head. Smoky aroma of coffee, chocolate, and oatmeal. Taste has more vanilla and less smoke. A little thin with a roasty, chocolatey, slightly astringent finish.
