Commercial Description:
Dominion Oak Barrel Stout is rich and smooth, a draught brew so popular at our Brewup that we found a way to bottle it for a wider audience. We combine seven different malts and two hops to create a delicious stout, that we dry-hop with fresh vanilla beans and toasted oak to finish our little treasure. The result is a stout that has the bourbon barrel flavor we all enjoy, and hope you will to.

Note: made with oak chips and vanilla beans, not aged in barrels. Available bottled and draft outside of the brewpub.

Beautiful blackish brown with a tan small head. Aroma of vanilla ice cream, eggnog. Tastes oaky, smoky, full roasted malt, coffee. Bit of a (uncarbonated) cola feel to itwhen cold. Short bittersweet finish. Worthy.

Such a good beer for so low an alcohol content. My first experience with this brewer and well worth it. Smells of roasted coffee. Tastes of smoke and oak. Finishes with a sweet mesquite flavor.

A brown beer with a disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet wtih notes of wood and prunes, while the flavor is sweet and dominated by the wood, but also some roasted notes. But the body is thin.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with BuckNaked (thanks!). Bottle labeled, bottled on 18 Nov 2004. Poured a dark black with red at the edges and a large sized tan head. Aromas of vanilla beans, roated malts, oak and chocolate. Tastes of roasted malts, coffee, very light vanilla and very light oak. Body a tad on the thin side.

Thanks to axilla! The beer pours to a deep black body with a 1 finger bubbly tan head. The aroma is very malty and roasty. Wow. The beer smells like a smoked (no, not meat) beer. Like they smoked the malts over oak and a little vanilla. The flavor is a grassy charcoaled chocolate stout. Some smoked (like a lightly smoked Rauchbier) qualities as well. The palate is creamy and dry. Nice. Has that grassy lingering.

Nice inviting black color with a minimal head. Aroma dominated by chocolate malt. Flavor is rich and smooth with sweet malts and just a hint of hops. I did not pick up the oak in the aroma or flavor.

Black Coloring with Creamy Head. Creamy Mouthfeel...LIke a Milky Vanilla, Sweet Malt, Chocolate Notes. Oak Was Apparent Right Off the Get-Go and Disappears into the Creaminess That is on Your Tongue. Really Nice Brew but Perhaps the Lactose is Beating Down What Oak Flavors Were There.
