Commercial Description:
Dominion Oak Barrel Stout is rich and smooth, a draught brew so popular at our Brewup that we found a way to bottle it for a wider audience. We combine seven different malts and two hops to create a delicious stout, that we dry-hop with fresh vanilla beans and toasted oak to finish our little treasure. The result is a stout that has the bourbon barrel flavor we all enjoy, and hope you will to.

Note: made with oak chips and vanilla beans, not aged in barrels. Available bottled and draft outside of the brewpub.

Dark black stout with a thick creamy tan head. This is an acceptable stout, while a little watery overall.

On draft. Well, my wife liked this, and I did not. I found it much too sweet and strongly vanilla flavored. I love stout and in general repect Dominion beers... htis is niot flawed, but not to my taste. Too much oak and vanilla, too little stout. But obviously this is a well liked beer, so try it and see.

Paid 1.50 for a 12-oz bottle. Pours black with an inch of brown frothy head. Sweet vanilla aroma, which is extremely appetizing... underneath the vanilla is a hint of smokiness. Flavor is full of vanilla and some smoked oakiness. Very tasty. This one needs to be distributed all over... it’s damn good.

From a bottle, surprised to find this in the midwest after never seeing it in VA where it is brewed. I like this - deep dark brownish red in colour, very thick and dark. Aroma is sweet and smoky with tons going on. Cherries, cinders, toffee, chocolate, vanilla. Flavour is sweet, almost sour with some nice subtle hoppy tones. Its syrupy but also smooth. Well crafted.

Pours black with a nice tan head that fades to thin hue. Aroma is oak, stale smoke and chocolate. Flavor is lots of oak and vanilla, with a weak chocolate taste. Thin to watery texture. This has a really fake taste and is quite unenjoyable.

Clear dark brown, cream head. Vanilla, roast, chocolate, caramel notes. Thinnish body, free flowing in the glass and mouth (not oily), but frothiness gives it interest. Bitter edge in the finish. Not great but interesting enough.

(Rating #328)

Rich flavor. Vanilla and oak aroma and flavor with a bit of a roasted coffee flavor. Not too heavy and has a nice finish. I just had it again after some time and can only imagine that my palate has increased since I had this 16 months ago.
