Commercial Description:
Dominion Oak Barrel Stout is rich and smooth, a draught brew so popular at our Brewup that we found a way to bottle it for a wider audience. We combine seven different malts and two hops to create a delicious stout, that we dry-hop with fresh vanilla beans and toasted oak to finish our little treasure. The result is a stout that has the bourbon barrel flavor we all enjoy, and hope you will to.

Note: made with oak chips and vanilla beans, not aged in barrels. Available bottled and draft outside of the brewpub.

(many thanks to goldtwins for sending me this.bottle reads jul. 15 200...and the rest is cut off)the d.o.b. poured a black body that shown a bit of brown around the edges when held to light.as far as head the only thing it had in this department was a tine brown ring around the snifter glass.the aroma was very tempting and made my eyes light up at the first sniff.chocolate, coffee, oak, vanilla, and raosted malt all made up the complex aroma.the first sip brought on loads of vanilla, then some oak,and roasted malts to follow.the mouthfeel was a little on the light side and i could taste a bit of oxidation.but this is still a very nice stout indeed.

Pitch black without head. Coffee aroma with notes of chocolate, vanilla, licorice, malt and cookies. Vanilla flavor with notes of coffee, chocolate and smoke. Thin, and where is the stout? You can either hide a bad beer or spice up a good one with barrel aging. This being the former.

Bottle. Poured dark brown with a solid tan head. Pretty good retention. Aroma had vanilla, coffee bean, chocolate, caramel and courant. The vanilla was quite effective in the taste. This was really good but didn’t wow me.

On tap at Summit Wayside Tavern in Atlanta, Ga. Dark, ruby red pour, mocha colored head, good thick lacing. Not much of an aroma, what is there is reminiscent of fresh water from a lake. Flavor is somewhat winey, yet sweet. Pick up hints of coffee, chocolate with some underlying candied sugar. Mouthfeel just a tad thinner than expected.

Bottled: Dark brown coloured. Brown dense head. Chocolate, light roast and coffee in the nose. Some malt notes. Flavour is light hoppy, herbal, buttery and has malt notes. Notes of coffee as well. Ends on a sweet caramelly note.

Chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate. Some vanilla and a touch of coffee for good measure. These attributes describe both the flavor and the aroma of this scintillating beer. Nitro draft only added to its improbable smoothness. I hope the bottled version comes close to being this good; that way you could serve this to dinner guests in place of chocolate cake for dessert.
