Had a nice vanilla and chocolate taste to it, as well as some coffee. It was a bit thin for being a stout, but overall I was impressed with this beer. docsteigs (139), USA

Smells of sweet stout, coffee, burn. Taste very pleasant with rich, chocolate malty flavor with a well hopped backbone. Would definitely like to try again and share w/ friends. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 25, 2009 poured black with barely existant head. Slight roasty aroma. Flavor burnt, dry and roasty but with faint mailt sweetness to keep a balance. Would like to try this again from decent taps as I think that may have killed the head. timsilvia32 (447), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 19, 2009 On tap. Black/brown pour, tan head with small amounts sticking to the glass. Barrel dominates the aromas with some roast malt and cocoa. Taste is a good blend of all of these. Vanilla oak blended with some chocolate and roast malt. Finish with a twinge of coffee and vanilla. A little thinner than one would like for a stout. Nothing mindblowing, but very good for a "regular" stout. Jsawyer (286), Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 14, 2009 Bottle. Pours thick molasses brown with a thin head and modest yet consistent lacing. Aroma is wonderfully sweet and smokey, oak, vanilla, and chocolate roasty malt. Flavor is roast barley, oak barrel, some chocolate, then it gets watery and honeyish sweet, and some hops come through in the end. Good start but needs more body. Aroma: Chocolate, coffee, oak, vanilla, smoke
Appearance: Dark opaque brown, small amount of brown head
Flavor: Pretty thin on the flavor side, but similar to the nose, sweet, smokey, oak flavor with a hint of spice
Palate: Mouthfeel is just average, not very exciting, beer was pretty thin
Overall Impression:
An alright beer, a little too watery for my liking, but overall not bad.
