The oak is present and the vanilla is well defined. However, this could be called a stout lite if there were such a thing. The mouth feel was not as heavy and the flavors not as deep as I would expect for this type of brew. Maybe I shouldn’t, but I think if the name were changed, my overall impression would have been higher. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 20, 2009 12 oz bottle purchased from Tower in Atlanta. Poured a dark black color with a one finger brown head that dissipated into a layer of brown scum. The aroma was heavily roasted, with notes of coffee, bitter chocolate and a vegetal note. The flavor was about the same. A smoky, roasty beginning with only a faint flavor of oak and vanilla. Very strong espresso finish. This was an interesting beer. If the palate had been a little fuller, this might have been okay. Just an average beer though. SamGamgee (1463), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 11, 2009 12oz bottle. Dark brown with a small, fleeting head. Watery, mineral aroma, almost briny, some chocolate, just a drop of vanilla, a bit sweaty. Sweet flavor, mild chocolate. Mild bitterness. Oak and vanilla are a bit muddled, but their combined influence seems to force all the stout flavors to the side and doesn’t adequately replace them. Finishes thin and watery with a hint of caramel. Light bodied with prickly, but small bubbles, feels pretty filtered as well. This stout is pretty mild with almost no roast. I would peg it as a light porter if I didn’t know better. Definitely not what I was expecting, and not something that I would go for again. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA

Poured black with a creamy dark tan head that settles to a ring and left light lace. Aroma of milk chocolate, vanilla, oak, and butter. Roasty coffee, chocolate, and oak in the flavor with just a slight hint of vanilla. Light to medium body, dry, and a light roast aftertaste. ukntcme (20), Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 20, 2009 Had this one on draft. The head lasted as long as the beer. Looked like a typical stout. Taste of malt and slight hopps. I thought it thin and was a bit dissappointed. The head was the best part of the beer. Palidor19 (1785), Brandon, Florida, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 15, 2009 Comes out of the tap a deep opaque sable with a fine-bubbled tan head. Strong aroma is smoky and coffee-ish, and slightly chocolaty. Rich flavor is like a good mocha and has a yeasty undertone, along with nutty and molasses hints. Texture is smooth and a little tingly. ckau (26), north east, Maryland, USA
