Dec 25, 2005 A brown beer with a disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet wtih notes of wood and prunes, while the flavor is sweet and dominated by the wood, but also some roasted notes. But the body is thin.

Jan 26, 2005 Bottled. Opaque black, not that much of a head. Smells of coffee, vanilla and a bit of caramel. The taste goes well along with the aroma. The taste misses something though (compared to aroma, which was very promising for the beer).

Oct 23, 2005 Funny appearance. It looks dark brown but there’s not a whole lot of light getting through regardless. The aroma mixed oak, vanilla and coffee. Very sweet flavour with lots of vanilla and oak, to the point where it overwhelms the stout character it ought to have. Those coffee notes go so far back in the background and you won’t find much hop here at all. A bit unbalanced but okay if vanilla is your thing.

Apr 16, 2004 (bottled 4-8-04) Medium tan head atop a red black body. Aroma is sweet, bourbon, roasty, chococoffee, mild vanilla. Taste is sweet, roasty/burnt, bourbon, caramel, light vanilla, finishing roasty coffee bitter. Nice beer, but a bit thinner than I recall the brewpub-draft version.
