| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 26, 2005 Bottled. Opaque black, not that much of a head. Smells of coffee, vanilla and a bit of caramel. The taste goes well along with the aroma. The taste misses something though (compared to aroma, which was very promising for the beer). joergen (8610), Frederiksberg, Denmark

It looks dark brown but there’s not a whole lot of light getting through regardless. The aroma mixed oak, vanilla and coffee. Very sweet flavour with lots of vanilla and oak, to the point where it overwhelms the stout character it ought to have. Those coffee notes go so far back in the background and you won’t find much hop here at all. A bit unbalanced but okay if vanilla is your thing. fiulijn (7200), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy

Nice beer, but a bit thinner than I recall the brewpub-draft version.
