Amber, small head, fades fast, some hops and a skunky smell, like bad lettuce, flavor was fine, sweet and malty, yet not outstanding, little hint of something metallic in the finish, not bad jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA

First thing that struck me about the aroma was caramel, but there’s a little hop spice behind it. Malty flavor, spicy finish. Very drinkable. Excellent Fest. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 26, 2004 Draft at the brewpub before our trip. Copperish brown with a minimal tanned head. Aroma was pleasant with mild hops, light caramel, and malt. Faint spice. Taste was light hops, with a mild caramel and malt mixture. Resiny spice flavor also. Rounded mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Finish is mild malts, and light spice. Nice beer! jefcon (1000), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 16, 2004 Lightly cloudy with little carbonation -- orange and brown in the glass. Average yeast aromas and a little molasses in the nose. Some sweetness in the flavor, but not unpleasant, almost a little creamy in the mouthfeel. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 12, 2004 12 oz. twist off, brown, longneck bottle. Freshness date of 26 Aug 2004. Very fresh then. Poured out a medium copper / amber color, with a tan colored, sticky head. It slid back to a generous lacing down the sides of the glass. Aromas are of fresh Vienna malts, slight spiciness, and yeast. Alcohol and hops are both well hidden in aromas. Flavors are of fresh malts, spicy yeast, and a slight burning from the alcohol as it’s swallowed. Lively carbonation.
Medium mouthfeel. Finishes somewhat sweet and spicy. It would make a great session beer.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 10, 2004 Updated: Sep 4, 2007Pours a nice reddish amber with an off-white head. In addition to being malty, the aroma has a pleasant grassy hop character. Taste is of caramel, toasted malt, noble hops, light brown sugar/molasses, light cherry and fresh, bready yeast. Delightfully malty. Pleasantly sweet, some slight bitterness and toastiness at the end. Mouthfeel is medium and very smooth on the palate with moderate carbonation, could use a little more spritz to liven it up a little more. Great lacing and head retention. One of the nicer Oktoberfests out there. Get it fresh though. raindog (558), Evansville, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 29, 2003 Hazy oarnge. Medium white, head. Stays about a inch thick, lasting. Aroma is malty(toffee, toasty),with a noticeable hop presence. Mouthfeel is full and round, full texture. Great bready, fruity, malt flavors. Continues into the finish with more hops in the finish drying it out. Maybe a tad out of date(bottled Sep 19)but still quite tasty and respectable.
