Commercial Description:
Octoberfest's decidedly malty flavor comes from a generous portion of Vienna Malts. The maltiness is balanced by German and Czech Republic noble hops for dryness. The balance between the malt and the hops and the long, cold (30 degrees F) maturation process make this an exceptionally drinkable beer.

Bottle. Amber orange color, small head. Aroma is not there, blame it on my nose and the scottish ale I just drank. Bland flavor, hardly any character, very watery and one dimiensional. Slight caramel flavor but not at all as malty as it should be. Almost a corn or macro felavor. I expected more. Very dissappointing.

This was mild in all aspects. Malty and sweet, with very subtle hoppiness, this lacked complexity in the aroma and flavor. A bit flat on the palate. Overall, nice, but nothing too exciting.

Bottle from Corridor in Laurel, MD. Pours orange amber with an eggshell head. Medium bodied with a light texture and fine carbonation, Aroma of peanuts, orange, and caramel. The flavor is a bit odd- bready, spicy, sweet maple syrup. Noble hops come out on the finish. This seems more like an underattenuated Vienna than an Octoberfest. Interesting.

Tap at the Dominion Brewhouse. Clear auburn-orange pour, fleeting foam. Cloying sweet aroma of thin maple syrup and honey. A bit of dry pear skin. Taste is earthy; a pasty rub of raw almonds and cashews on pumpkin bread. Metal and tinny sweetness melt in sugary syrup over a firm base of well chosen malts. Gritty in the mouth with that under-attentuated smack. The malt could be thicker. Completely unimpressive, but certainly within reason.

12oz bottle. Nose of smoked corn, heavy maple and caramel, with the vienna malts very pronounced. Flavor is slightly sour caramel and maple flavored corn, sitting heavy on the tongue, nearly syrupy. Strange.

Not bad, but I remember this being a little better. It ’s just not as malty as I thought it was. It s a decent beer, but it doesn’t have that german malt profile

Sept 2005 - Yawn. Very disappointing. I’ve always liked the Dominion brews, but this one didn’t do it. Poured orangish color with little head and lacing. The taste was malty, but very little spiciness at all. I prefer a subdued Octoberfest (don’t like em overly spiced), but this had next to nothing. Mouthfeel was a tad flat. Taste had a bitter finish .
