Commercial Description:
Octoberfest's decidedly malty flavor comes from a generous portion of Vienna Malts. The maltiness is balanced by German and Czech Republic noble hops for dryness. The balance between the malt and the hops and the long, cold (30 degrees F) maturation process make this an exceptionally drinkable beer.

Bottle. Amber color, with white head. Aroma is that of caramels. Flavor is the same, with some fruityness. Malt flavors hidden in there as well.

Bottle sampled with Stegosaurus. Pours hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma of fruit and caramel. The flavor is sweet, caramel, and fruit. Good beer.

Bottle date 090606. Amber brew with lots of carbonation on side of glass, small foamy head. Aroma is very malty sweet cherries and pear. Fresh fruit. Smooth fruity taste with a pepper burn feel in the throat. Flavor is a bit more hoppy then I thought it was going to be based on the big malt aroma. Finishes with a gentle warmth. Taste more like a dry fruit wine, then a beer.

Bright amber with absolutely no head whatsoever. Aroma is very toasty up front, fades into caramel and floral/euro hops. Flavor much the same. Toasty with a very pronounced fruity flavor I can’t pinpoint. Almost is rotten banana weizen like? Decent hop presence helps the beer finish somewhat clean. Getting huge floral belches right now though. Overall decent ’fest.

On Tap at the Green Leafe... don’t know if the bartender poured the right brew, because what I received was most like an IPA, very similar to Victory’s HopDevil. Now, there’s nothing wrong with the Devil, however, it is definately not what my palate was expecting at that time... I will have to re-rate...

Amber body. Pumpkin, wheat aroma. Light spice, overall an excellent, if not unoffensive Octoberfest.

On tap at the Green Leafe. Translucent amber colorwith a minimal whitish head. Basic mild malt nose...caramaltish. More caramalt flavor...medium hop bitterness. Decent balance...medium bodied...mild hop bitterness. Acceptable.

Had this at the Dominion brewpub yesterday. Nice amber color, thin head. Aroma included caramel and nutmeg. Good taste, malty with some other flavors - bready, a touch of fruitiness -- could be a tad more bold, but this is one of the best Marzens I’ve had in a while.
