Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a chestnut color with a small tan head. The aroma is nut, molasses and hops. The flavor is hoppy with your typical red ale sour malt and nut presence. Not bad. axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA

Smooth carmel flavor with a small hop finish. Not a bad brew. a361lbs (1), Los Angeles, California, USA does not count | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 28, 2005 A clear red brew with fruity soft-wood aroma. Not much hops in the nose. The palate was a bit thicker than expected, but not in an unpleasant way; it finished cleanly. Too much caramel sweetness for my tastes in a pale ale, although there was a nice suble hop bitterness. This beer is not unpleasant, but carries no strong recommendation. The creamy head and coppery color were very inviting. The flavors were of grapefruity hops. The finish is slightly bitter but smooth. I have had two other Pale Ales under different names New River and MojackBay. This is one of the better Pale Ales that I have tasted. PattiA (49), Madison, New Hampshire, USA

Hints of caramel flavor. Smooth texture, medium body. Excellent with wintertime thick stews. crzybob77 (528), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 20, 2005 Amber brown color, slightly cloudy, with small off white head. Aroma has lots of caramel and malt, hint of maple syrup. Flavor is decently bitter, with a roasted barley undertone, crisp and clean. This is an interesting brew, not your typical pale ale. It has its share of bittering hops, but it has almost no hops in the aroma at all. The aroma is more like a scotch ale, but the flavor is like a rich ESB. I was a skeptic when I saw the twist off cap, but I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

Aroma is of both caramel maltiness and floral hops. Flavor is fairly strong of hops... nice mix of citrus and floral flavors. There is also a good amount of malt in the flavor profile and the balance between hop and malt is OK. The finish is nicely hop bitter and clean. While I do not think that this beer is quite a good as it has been rated by others, I do feel that this is a very drinkable beer that I would enjoy having again.
