Aroma is of buttery, slightly soured fruit soaked in beer. Flavor has a similar twang and fruitiness, with big support from toasted nut and dry malted grain flavors. Palate is almost medium-bodied, slightly dry and tingly. I used to get this on tap at Norfolk airport a lot, and always thought the sour taste was just due to high temps on the kegs during transport; I still like the diacetyls and sourish twang. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 11, 2007 May 2005 - Poured with a coppery color that was slightly almost clear. Small head that dissipated very quickly...which was unimpressive. Not much aroma. On to taste...this really tasted like an IPA rather than just a Pale Ale. Strong flowery hop presence with buttery, almost "chewy tasting" malt backbone. At least it had more going on in there than just hops and water. jcwattsrugger (5573), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

Taste is citrus hops-some cascade, secondary medium malt. Easy drinking. OK/mild carbonation. gotohelunc (476), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 13, 2007 Bottle. Caramel-like aroma, simple, but good. Wow, this pours as the darkest "pale ale" I’ve ever seen...the color of a heavily tanned Native American. I was expecting a drinkable session beer, but the flavor is complex and layered, a nice blend of roasted nuts, sugars, barley, and a hoppy undertone. Finishes smoothly. I would enjoy having just one of these, or drinking them all night long. Dansting (222), Overland Park, Kansas, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 27, 2007 Bottle. Bitter, nutty aroma that was not too pleasant. Poured a clear reddish-brown color with a medium white head and slight lacing. Nice mouthfeel: not too light and not too heavy. Flavor is hoppy and malty with a nice caramel kick. Pleasant bitter aftertaste. Pretty good beer. LooseCannon (936), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 30, 2007 Bottle. Fresh, light bready citrus nose, tiny bubbles on a copper brown body with a nicely bitter taste that finishes quick, quite bitter for an APA. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 25, 2007 Poured much dark copper color then i expected small head. Aroma had a sweet malt to it. Flavor was citrus hops to it with a balanced caramel malt to it, not the best pale ale but not bad either.
