Commercial Description:
This rich, red ale is made in the American Pale Ale style. It has a strong hop character, medium body, dry finish, and floral hop aroma. We use pale Two-Row Brewer’s malt, Caramel 80 and 40 Lovibond malt, and Munich malt. For bittering and aroma Willamette, Cascade, and Tettnang hops are used in the kettle and as dry hopping in the fermenter.

Keg at the Hilton Dulles Airport. Amber coloured with a large white head. Quite well balanced for a US pale ale, nicely hoppy with malts to match (almost), some fruity elements. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Good

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a tannish frothy head. Lotsa carbonation thru the glass. Aromas of malt, hops, and bandaid. Smooth flavor: nice balance of hops and malts, with the hops winning out in the end, with a very pleasant aftertaste of slight citrus. Seems like a hoppier version of their Ale, which I happen to enjoy.

I enjoyed this beer, but directly out of the tap it felt like there was too much carbonation. Also, there seemed to be a strong taste of malt instead of hops. Good beer, but unfortuneatly only average.

A very hoppy pale ale with a dry taste to me. I enjoyed it and the colour was nice as well.

Bottle: Dark orange, quite hazy, moderate off-white head that settles quickly to a thin film, lacing is quite nice but carbonation appears to be non-existant.   Soft malty aroma, slight graininess, even slighter hop.   Grainy malt flavor, hop profile is extremely minor.   Luckily as it warms the hop bitterness becomes more noticable.   Body and mouthfeel are fairly average.   Fairly clean finish, soft, or should I say very soft, hop bitterness lingers.   Thanks Dan for the freebie!

I think that this is my new favorite beer. It has a beautiful color and excellent taste. Just a pleasure to drink this beer. Then again, that isnt shocking since Dominion makes some of the best beers I’ve had so far.

On draft at the brewery, 9/1/05: orange-red. Nice big grapefruit tones, quite citric and yummy. I’d like more, please.

It may be the bottle playing with my subconscious, but I caught a hint of a woodsy undertones in the aroma, a lighter, more citrusy smell dominated however. A solid session beer, in my mind, as it has a relatively full flavor that is not overpowering in any aspect. Although not a terribly complex beer, there is a sufficient variety of flavor to satisfy almost any beer lover.
