CaptainCougar (4687), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 21, 2007 Pours a clear lightly-effervescent golden with a small, frothy white head. Aroma of lightly sweet pale Belgian malt with a hint of bready Belgian yeast. Body starts fairly full and bready sweet with a hint of tartness for balance before a drier finish. A pretty decent Belgian golden. Kinz (1931), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Jun 12, 2007 Interesting. Deep gold, hazy, nice head. Aroma was spicy, with the coriander making its presence known. Flavor was an interesting mix of honey malts, grassy hay, and coriander spice. Sort of like someone took a spicy wit and mixed it with a Duvel. Not bad, and I thought the coriander made its presence known without overwhelming. Perhaps a bit dusty though. radagast83 (1096), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Apr 4, 2007 Bottle. Light hazy color, thin white head. Aroma is that of spices. Flavor is pretty mild, with notable spice flavor in there as well. Not as good as last years outting for the Spring Brew, but decent. TheBeerLover (1013), DC Metro Area, USA Mar 28, 2007 Sampled on draught at the brewpub in Ashburn, VA. Pours to a slightly hazy, pale, golden color, with a thick, creamy, white head, and a good bit of carbonation. The nose is fragrant, with perfumed aromas of spicy yeast, citrus, black pepper, corriander, and pale malt sweetness. The palate is firm, with flavors of pale malt, earthy/spicy yeast flavor. This beer finishes with more pale malt sweetness up front, then ends with some spicy yeast flavor, and some corriander, and peppery flavors that linger. A decent domestic example of Belgian golden ale, but not one of OD’s best efforts. As far as Spring Brew goes, this beer is a huge dissapointment. Bring back the Saaz Bock, Imperial Pils, Maibock, or Dopplebock versions of Spring Brew. A real let down for Spring Brew fans. scraff (1703), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Mar 23, 2007 Lightly hazed gold, frothy white head. Nose was interesting with soft tones of banana, corriander, lemon, and floral perfume. Softer notes of pepper and earth follow through upon further warming. Flavor held more of the same with lots of florals, peppery spices, and touches of citrus and earth. Light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry finish. Nice effort, but don’t think I can drink more then one per sitting. Please bring back the Imperial Pils in 08...
